Calling on My Life

1 Timothy 1:3–11 CSB
As I urged you when I went to Macedonia, remain in Ephesus so that you may instruct certain people not to teach false doctrine or to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies. These promote empty speculations rather than God’s plan, which operates by faith. Now the goal of our instruction is love that comes from a pure heart, a good conscience, and a sincere faith. Some have departed from these and turned aside to fruitless discussion. They want to be teachers of the law, although they don’t understand what they are saying or what they are insisting on. But we know that the law is good, provided one uses it legitimately. We know that the law is not meant for a righteous person, but for the lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinful, for the unholy and irreverent, for those who kill their fathers and mothers, for murderers, for the sexually immoral and males who have sex with males, for slave traders, liars, perjurers, and for whatever else is contrary to the sound teaching that conforms to the gospel concerning the glory of the blessed God, which was entrusted to me.
I. Responsible to God’s Plan which operates by our Faith.
Where do I fit in the church?

But speaking the truth in love, let us grow in every way into him who is the head—Christ.
Acts 16:25 CSB

when you know how to praise in prison, you’ve learned how to worship in spirit & truth.
John 4:24 CSB
God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in Spirit and in truth.”
Hebrews 13:15 NKJV
Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.
A thankful heart is issues a thankful life. In testimonies, our talents, our tithes, and our time.
2 Timothy 2:21 NKJV
Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.
We are created, redeemed, and cleansed to be useful in the work of God.
2 Corinthians 6:1 NKJV
We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain.
James 2:17 CSB
In the same way faith, if it does not have works, is dead by itself.
Also see Eph. 2:10
Ephesians 2:10 NKJV
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
John 9:1–7 NKJV
Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him. I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” When He had said these things, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent). So he went and washed, and came back seeing.
II. Accountability to God.

B. Accountable for every word we speak and every work we perform.
Many Christians today have become negligent and undisciplined in our Christian service.
Philippians 2:25 NKJV
Yet I considered it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, fellow worker, and fellow soldier, but your messenger and the one who ministered to my need;
III. Things I need to know:
Beliefs, what the bible says, what the church believes and practices.
A. Know that I’ve been saved.
see Jn. 1:12
John 1:12 NKJV
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:
There are many who claimed to be saved who no nothing of the indwelling life of Jesus and the work of divine service that He has given us.
Illus. Earthly clay mixed with divine spittle opened the man’s eyes.
Conclusion: Salvation, Rededication, Baptism, church membership is our first step to walk with Christ.
But I ask you today, are you being useful to Jesus today as you walk with Him?
