I. Our Destiny vs. 5-8
I. Our Destiny vs. 5-8
A. The angels were not made to rule, but to serve. In the eternal state, they will be servants, and man will rule.
B. Psalm 8 is quoted here. It shows a lot of peoples opinon on God. Basically, we are insignificant in the grand scheme of things, but that’s not so. We are the height of creation, because the Father breathed the breath of life into souls. (William Shatner vs. George Takai space fight ex) Gen. 2:7
Then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.
C. Right now we are lower than the angels, but one day we will judge them. I Cor. 6:3
Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more matters of this life?
D. We are to have dominion over creation. Take care of it. Be in charge of it. environmentalist/conservationalist ex) Gen. 1:26
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
E. We lost control and sidelined our destiny when Adam sinned. Rom. 5:12
Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned—
F. We’ll get this back as co-heirs with Christ, under His Lordship with a New Heaven, New Earth, and New Jerusalem
II. Due to Jesus’ Sacrifice vs. 9-10
II. Due to Jesus’ Sacrifice vs. 9-10
A. Jesus set the example by coming to Earth.
B. He suffered our death for us. Tasted here is for liquid. To drink it dry. Jesus drained the cup of the wrath of God for us. Matt. 20:22
But Jesus answered, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink?” They said to Him, “We are able.”
And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will.”
C. Jesus did this for everyone, not a select few.
D. Jesus created all things and is Lord of all, He gives us new life, new birth, and a new destiny.
E. To perfect means to finish. Meaning Jesus who is the author of our salvation, saw it to completion.
F. So now we have a new destiny, because of Jesus’ sacrifice.
