1. The King Reigns

Three of these psalms‘The LORD reigns’ (93:1; 97:1; 99:1). These are refered to as the Royal Psalms or Enthronement Psalms......
Great pomp and circumstance in the history of the world for the installation of Kings and (Presidents in the U.S.)..... But here in the Psalms...God is on His throne! He is King..... He was always on it, remained on it, and will always remain on it!
a. Over Creation
Psalm 93:3–4 ESV
3 The floods have lifted up, O Lord, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their roaring. 4 Mightier than the thunders of many waters, mightier than the waves of the sea, the Lord on high is mighty!
Psalm 97:4–6 ESV
4 His lightnings light up the world; the earth sees and trembles. 5 The mountains melt like wax before the Lord, before the Lord of all the earth. 6 The heavens proclaim his righteousness, and all the peoples see his glory.
All of Creation is under God’s control..... His established strength is above all of creation.
No real storm or spiritual storm is too deep for God to control!
Jesus, God’s son, King of Kings and Lord of Lords walked on the waters and silenced the storms!
b. Over every nation
Psalm 99:2 ESV
2 The Lord is great in Zion; he is exalted over all the peoples.
Over every nation.... the response of every person is to tremble..... He is exalted over all the nations.
Nations of power in the history of the world.... the only response is to bow the knee and Kiss the ring of the king!
c. Above all gods
Psalm 95:3 ESV
3 For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.
Psalm 96:4–5 ESV
4 For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; he is to be feared above all gods. 5 For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols, but the Lord made the heavens.
Everyone makes idols that are worshipped over God. It is why it is included in the first 2 of the 10 commandments!
We are idol making factories!..... Anything that demands our hearts affection more than God is an idol.... anything that controls or effects our behavior and obedience is an idol.
Why does this matter?
No matter what happens..... God is still on His throne.
Missing the speed limit sign.... doesn’t mean the speed limit sign isn’t there
No matter how dark the night seems, there is a King on his throne.

Philippians 2:5–11 ESV
5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
