Opening Question: Did any of you have an imaginary friend growing up?
We are told that we will need our imagination to help properly care for our fellow church members.
The Bible is full of commands to do this:
Weep with those who weep (Rom. 12:15).
Remember those in prison as though in prison with them (Heb. 13:3).
Bear one another’s burdens (Gal. 6:2).
Consider how to stir one another up and encourage one another (Heb.10:24–25).
In order to do this fully and fruitfully, we must remember: If one member suffers, all suffer together 1 Cor. 12:26 “26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.”
Tonight I rejoice with parents that rejoice. We only get to do that to the extent we would mourn with them when they mourn.
