No one becomes great with out first going through training and trial.
We try to live our lives the best we can, without going though trials.
A generation of people strive to become rich and successful, but they want to do it without putting in the time and effort.
#Gracesmm: I cannot run from my trials. I need to learn to run through them.
To go from good to great requires time, trials and training.
Today we are looking at 3 ways trials target our lives and how to over come them
Matthew 4:1–11 (ESV)
1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 And after fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3 And the tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.”
Trials target our desires
4 But he answered, “It is written, “ ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ ”
Being in the Word changes our desires
5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and set him on the pinnacle of the temple 6 and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, “ ‘He will command his angels concerning you,’ and “ ‘On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.’ ”
Trials target our sense of Safety
7 Jesus said to him, “Again it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’ ”
We don't test what we trust
True Faith in God is Full Trust in Him
8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9 And he said to him, “All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.”
Trials target your Attention
10 Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, Satan! For it is written, “ ‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.’
Where your focus is, your worship follows.
Keep your attention to God and what he is doing.
11 Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and were ministering to him.
Luke 4:13
13 And when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from him until an opportune time.
Satin attacks at opportune times.
when he has the likelihood of you falling, he will send more at you
remember what Jesus gave us to fight off temptation
Be in Gods Word Have True faith in God
and keep your attention to what he is doing, is how we get though trials
remember this other truth
No Trial can overcome us as long as we are standing with God
