Inner Conversations

It's been said the average woman speaks 20,000 words a day. The average man speaks about 7,000. The National Science foundation says our minds think between 50,000 and 70,000 thougths a day. That's a lot of conversation going on. Our conversation and self talk can either be our best friend or our worst enemy.
It seems to me that the conversation in our mind should be considered more. Too many say things to themselves that they'd never let someone else get away with.
Paul wrote we are to set our minds on the things above and below (Colossians 3:2.) We are to meditate on the things that are pure and lovely, noble, noteworthy and of good report. Think on these things (Philippians 4:8.) God wants to transform our lives by changing our thinking.
You cannot control the events or circumstances of your life, but you can control your reactions. The Bible says you can set your mind and think on good things.
W we can't always control what hacienda to us but we can control what hacienda in us.
75 to 98 percent of mental and physical illness comes from one’s thought life:
Proverbs 23:7 “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, But his heart is not with you.”
Romans 12:1-2 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

Own Your Authority

It’s not what happens to you but what happens in you. You can change your life by changing your thinking. It starts with taking responsibility and resisting old ways of thinking, misbeliefs, unGodly beliefs, narratives, and cycles of behavior.
1. Decide not to blameshift
2. Eliminate excuses
3. Call off the attack
4. Drop your defenses.
What happened to us may not be our fault but our actions are our responsibility.

Every behavior has a root…fruits need roots…

Hebrews 12:15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;
Luke 6:43 For a good tree (Jesus) bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
…Roots come out when we water the ground…
Ephesians 5:26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word,

Uproot The Ungodly Beliefs/Hooks/Open Doors/Buttons

James 1:13–15 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: 14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. 15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
Ephesians 4:27 Neither give place to the devil.
2 Corinthians 10:3–5 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Examples of Inner Conversations

Belief - People will leave or be upset with me if I don’t do what they ask
Expectation - I always have to say yes.
Behavior - saying yes, when I want to say no. Being overcommitted.
Experience - Not being able to do what I’m being asked. People being upset with me.
New Belief - I am loved by God. I am a God pleaser and not a man pleaser. If they leave, they weren’t meant to be part of my life. God will bring people who love me for being me.

Reframing Our Inner Conversation

CHANGE YOUR MIND CHANGE YOUR LIFE
Our mind can be the worst neighborhood to walk through and worst prison to do time in
Thought Cycle
Situation - Person didn’t return my call
Belief (ungodly) - Nobody loves me
Truth - I am a chosen and special child of God
Expectation - Why wouldn’t they want to talk with me? They might need a friend.
behavior (new)- I call them again and find they felt hurt by me. I minister to them.
Experience (new) - I close the communication gap and make stronger relationships possible.

Scriptures to know

James 1:13–14 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: 14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
1 Timothy 6:11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
1 Peter 5:8–9 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
