Beatitudes = 9 upside/down Kingdom Statements
Jesus isn’t giving us a list of rules, but rather a list of pursuits
As we pursue these characteristics, the Holy Spirit changes our hearts
What God does in me, God will do in my home
What God does in my home, God will do in our church.
What God does in our church, God will do in our community.
What God does in our community, God will do in our country.
This is what real revival looks like… not tongues, not people laid out on a floor, not big church services
They all may be PART of the fruit of revival
Real revival is transformed hearts, homes, churches, communities, countries, and world!
Each statement begins with “blessed” or “God blesses” which could be better translated “happy” or “God makes happy.”
Happy = True Joy ≠ Not happiness based on happenings
SCRIPTURE
Matthew 5:1–6 NLT
1 One day as he saw the crowds gathering, Jesus went up on the mountainside and sat down. His disciples gathered around him, 2 and he began to teach them. 3 “God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. 4 God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted. 5 God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth. 6 God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied.
Matthew 5:6 NIV
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
