I should obey my government?
At this point in time the major persecutions of Christians had not yet begun.
Do you think that changes what Paul would have said or is this statement from the Bible always true? What modifies this statement from Paul?
I think Paul is saying whenever not in direct opposition to God you must stay within the law.
Helpfully we get a clue as to the purpose of government and I think we should keep these things in mind as we elect those to serve in government.

Why? What motivates us?
That Christ has saved us and every moment that goes by is closer to the time of his return to earth or our homecoming to him.
So go and make disciples, love neighbors, submit to authorities.
Now our armor gets described as light, how cool.
Our protection is blinding to the enemy.
Hopefully it is… have you kept it shiny, are you letting your faith rust, the truth of the gospel get warn down, the belt get loose, the righteousness get dented up?
Don’t be participants in darkness… It’s daylight out, act like it!
