6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Embracing Jesus as a whole, is embracing the Truth, the way and the Life.
Jesus Christ came to reveal to us the truth and to reveal to us His way and his life.
When Jesus was on the earth and was proclaiming the word of the Kingdom.
There were people who stumbled at the Words of truth
They did not stumble at the truth, and stumbled at the way.
There are those who recognised and acknoweldged the truth he proclaimed yet because of the way they did not follow him.
There are those who stumbled because of his life.
The Message today let us not stumble at the truth, or because of the way or because of his life
Let Us love the truth, walk his way and live his life.
Love the Truth
Love the Truth
Christ is the Embodiement of truth.
He is the truth.
John 17:17 (NKJV)
17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.
Christ is The Word made flesh.
John 1:14 (NKJV)
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
So all truth is in him, proceeds from him and leads to him
Pilate therefore said to Him, “Are You a king then?”
Jesus answered, “You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”
Oh, send out Your light and Your truth!
Let them lead me;
Let them bring me to Your holy hill
And to Your tabernacle.
Knowing The truth is Knowing who Jesus Christ is.
1 John 5:19–21 (NKJV)
19 We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.
20 And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.
It is not enough to Know Thaat Jesus Christ is the true God and eternal life. That He is the Father Manifest in his own heavenly flesh.
We have to obey the truth.
We Obey the Truth by obeying the Gospel.
11 In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will,
12 that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.
13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,
When we read the Words of the Apostle Peter in acts 2:38, we don’t receive it as the words of Peter, but the Words of truth.
22 Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart,
23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,
24 because “All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away,
25 But the word of the Lord endures forever.” Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.
When we embrace this truth, obey this truth and hold fast to this truth, it means we love the truth.
Do not exchange the truth for a lie
2 Timothy 4:2–4 (NKJV)
2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;
4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.
The enemy can entice us with ecertain desire that when we embrace it, that desire can come into conflict with the sound doctrine we have been taught.
Since the truth won’t accomodate that desire, we turn away from the truth to cater to our carnal desires and embrace a lie (fables)
Walk in the way
6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
he who says he abides in the truth also has to walk as he walked.
People can believe the truth, embrace the truth obey the Gospel yet not walk as he walked.
We have to follow his way.
The Way to life.
Matthew 7:13–14 (NKJV)
13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.
14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.
The way to destruction is broad and its gate wide.
In other words it accomondates to alot of things, it accomdates our fleshly desires, our slefish ambition,our own ways and natural inclinations.
The way to destruction is very appealing
The way of life , Christ way is difficult and the gate narrow.
We have to let go of amny things, give up many things if we wish to walk through the narrow gate and then the way is difficult. It is wrought with difficulty.
17 Now as He was going out on the road, one came running, knelt before Him, and asked Him, “Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?”
18 So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God.
19 You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not bear false witness,’ ‘Do not defraud,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother.’ ”
20 And he answered and said to Him, “Teacher, all these things I have kept from my youth.”
21 Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me.”
22 But he was sad at this word, and went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.
The young man had to give up his possession to walk in the way.
We will need to give up something to walk in this way.
It may be our pride, what we hold dear.
We have to also carry the cross.
The cross signifies difficulty and hardship.
Galatians 6:12 (NKJV)
12 As many as desire to make a good showing in the flesh, these would compel you to be circumcised, only that they may not suffer persecution for the cross of Christ.
The desciples had to give up some immaterial things such as their ambition.
Sometimes it is easy to give up material things but hard to gi up immaterial things such as ambition, ego and pride.
Mark 10:35-45.
Notice how in verse 28, Peter with the other confessed that they have left all to follow him, but here it is revealed that they did not actually live all to follows him
And though the Lord gives you
The bread of adversity and the water of affliction,
Yet your teachers will not be moved into a corner anymore,
But your eyes shall see your teachers.
Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying,
“This is the way, walk in it,”
Whenever you turn to the right hand
Or whenever you turn to the left.
Teach me Your way, O Lord;
I will walk in Your truth;
Unite my heart to fear Your name.
Show me Your ways, O Lord;
Teach me Your paths.
Lead me in Your truth and teach me,
For You are the God of my salvation;
On You I wait all the day.
The way may be difficult but in it
is peace, joy, and life
Live The life
Live The life
John 12:20–25 (NKJV)
20 Now there were certain Greeks among those who came up to worship at the feast.
21 Then they came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.”
22 Philip came and told Andrew, and in turn Andrew and Philip told Jesus.
23 But Jesus answered them, saying, “The hour has come that the Son of Man should be glorified.
24 Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.
25 He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.
Inorder for Christ Life to be manifested in us we have to die.
7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.
8 We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed—
10 always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.
11 For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.
12 So then death is working in us, but life in you.
14 For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died;
15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.
14 But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
