VBS 2022 Gospel Presentation
Welcome
Intro
On Monday you probably learned about how God created everything
That God is the author and perfecter of absolutely everything
From the clouds, to the trees, to the oceans, and mountains to the ant, to the shark, and the turkey vulture, and my favorite dirt
That God created dirt out of nothing
Psalm 104:24 NASB95
24 O Lord, how many are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all; The earth is full of Your possessions.
How awesome is that
That God is the creator and is absolutely amazing at it
You could almost spend a whole sermon on how God has uniquely and specifically created things in this world
And how they were created for a purpose
Then on Tuesday you learned about how God prepared David to be King
1 Samuel 16:7 NASB95
7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
David had 9 other brothers who looked more like a king than the last
That God doesn’t look at the outside as man does
See man looks at your accomplishments and how the world thinks you should look
The first 9 kids of Jesse according to the world probably looked more like a king than David
But God looks at the heart of the man
See Davids heart was pointed towards Gods heart and was after Gods heart
Amen that God looks at the heart instead of the accomplishments of man or how the world looks at the outside
Then on Wednesday we looked at Jesus as our King
Matthew 21:9 NASB95
9 The crowds going ahead of Him, and those who followed, were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David; Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest!”
That Jesus came into the Jerusalem and we being hailed as a king
The Jewish people thought Jesus was the promised King
The Messaih the savior
Except they were looking for a worldly king, a worldly savior
Jesus was the promised King
Except not the king they thought
See the world has a sin problem and Jesus was the only One the Promised One who could take care of the sin problem that plagues the world and that to this day still plagues some people
Jesus is our King
Then on Thursday we saw how Jesus is our Redeemer
Not only is Jesus our King and Lord but He is also our Redeemer
Luke 24:46 NASB95
46 and He said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day,
Just a week ago Jesus came into Jerusalem and they were all happy and excited and now they have screamed crucify Him
Jesus explains they Son of Man must suffer
Jesus was falsely arrested
Jesus was beaten and the sentenced to death
Jesus would suffer
Then Jesus died
Remember that sin problem we talked about earlier
That for some still plagues
for Sin we deserve death
That is the punishment for death
BUT
Jesus’s death covers our sin
Jesus took the punishment in our place
And that is not the end of the story
3 days after Jesus died He got up and walked out of the grave
He came back to life and thus defeated death
So if His death covers our sin
His life then gives us true life
Because of Jesus we can now be free from sin and live eternally with Jesus
To illustrate that we had our Student Ministry do a human video or skit for us
It was so awesome we asked them to do it again
Video
Because of Jesus you can have freedom this morning and let me make sure you understand it is only through Jesus that salvation from sin is found
The last day we learned how the Holy Spirit is our Helper
Acts 1:8 NASB95
8 but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”
See Jesus doesn’t give us salvation and then just leave us
He didn’t die on the cross to cover our sin and then beat death by rise again to give us life to then say hey good luck with life you are on your own
No Jesus has gone to prepare a place for those who have a personal relationship with Jesus in Heaven and in His place He has sent us the Helper The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit gives us the strength and power to go out and live for Jesus
The Holy Spirit then guides us on how to walk with Christ
THe Holy Spirit when needed will also convict us of sin in our life and show us how to get through that by repenting and running back to Jesus
So God didn’t do all this work to save us only to let us figure this thing called life out on our own
No He has sent the Holy Spirit
That is what VBS was about this week
Ephesians 2:10
It was about that God has created everything
That God has designed us to do a good work before hand and has even sent the Holy Spirit to help us
But to know that plan to be a part of that plan we have to be on the team
We have to know Jesus personally
To do that we have to repent from our sin and trust the Lord
Repent is to turn from
To stop and turn from the current with is the sin in your life and run the other way
THe other way is Jesus
To believe Jesus is to believe He is who He says He is and He says that He is the son of God and the savior of the World
To believe He did was He said He was going to do, He said he would die and the come back 3 days later, and He has said He will come back someday and it is getting closer with each passing day to call those who are His home with Him
When we do that we enter into a personal relationship this Jesus
Invitation
Maybe that is you this morning
You have never repented or trusted Jesus to be the Lord of your life
I would invite you to the front and you can speak with someone who can show you in scripture how to do that this morning
Or maybe you think you and God are close only to find out this morning that you have never accepted the free gift of salvation by repenting and trusting in Jesus
I would invite you to the front also
Or maybe you simply need to talk with someone to get more information about Jesus and salvation
Or maybe you just to spend sometime at the altar in prayer
The altar is open
