2 Kings 7:1–4 KJV (WS)
Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the Lord; Thus saith the Lord, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria. Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the Lord would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof. And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die? If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.
DEJA VU
Introduction: Have you ever had that funny feeling, I’ve been here before?
DEJA VU - a feeling of having already experienced the present situation:
Jeremiah 8:20 KJV (WS)
The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.
Same on battle..
I wake up in the morning...
Am still stuggling with the same problem this year that I had last year.
Seem like I have been in the exact same spot before.
This brings us to our story this morning of the four leprous men.
2 Kings 7:1 KJV (WS)
Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the Lord; Thus saith the Lord, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.
Faith cometh by hearing.
Tomorrow (God allow people to make up their minds whither or not they wanted to be blessed or wake up tomorrow in the same spot.
What does God know that we don’t know? You can change your tomorrow.
The possibilities that lie before us, in decision we make today.
The truth of the matter is, most people are sitting here this morning are on side of the fence. Both sides are the same…
Everybody needs Jesus.
The man on the corner...
The woman shopping at the grocery store...
The president...
The lost church member sitting in the pew...
The man sitting in jail waiting for trail...
2 Kings 7:3 KJV (WS)
And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die?
Look at your neighbor this morning and ask him or her, “Are you tired yet.”
Luke 5:5 KJV (WS)
And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.
Toil - work hard.h
Nothing to show for it, all these years. Its because you’re not moving forward, you’re in the same spot.
2 Kings 7:4 KJV (WS)
If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.
The only things that can change your life is Jesus. Why not give Him a chance this morning.
A Spiritual Deja Vu Moment
Luke 16:22–24 KJV (WS)
And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
We’ve heard about it, heard the preacher preach about it, we’ve read about it, even seen movies about it.
It will be like I’ve been here before.....
