The Vanishing Leader
Observing the land today we can see there is a shift happening in Christian circles.
There is a deep call, and it sounds like an alarm that is ringing.
In some instances the Lord is upending pulpits because of their selling out to the world
In other instances the baton is being handed off.
This alarm bell that is ringing is calling many into the service of the King.
This generation that is being called back will used in the season of the latter rain.
Today for this church what is becoming clear is the baton is being handed down and as the Lord pours out His anointing He is preparing and equipping the one who will take this church into the next level.

Looking at Your Heart

1 Samuel 16:6–7 ESV
When they came, he looked on Eliab and thought, “Surely the Lord’s anointed is before him.” But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”
Its easy to look at the outward appearance and justify who or what should used for the Lord
your working in matters of faith through the armor of God
History of the church moving in Holy Spirit power
Such a heavy call is for the one whom the Lord has Chosen
1 Samuel 16:12–13 ESV
And he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy and had beautiful eyes and was handsome. And the Lord said, “Arise, anoint him, for this is he.” Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers. And the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon David from that day forward. And Samuel rose up and went to Ramah.
The Lord looked into the heart of David and desired him
He chose David, anointed to David and Equipped David

Not Appointed by Man, Man Cannot take it from You

1 Samuel 16:13 ESV
Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers. And the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon David from that day forward. And Samuel rose up and went to Ramah.
It was not Man who anointed you it was the Lord, it is so no one can take your calling from you
Samuel was the vessel simply acknowledging what God was doing… the anointing belongs to God not man
In the Anointing there is an infilling of the Holy Spirit

Don’t Wear Someone Else’s Identity

1 Samuel 17:38–39 ESV
Then Saul clothed David with his armor. He put a helmet of bronze on his head and clothed him with a coat of mail, and David strapped his sword over his armor. And he tried in vain to go, for he had not tested them. Then David said to Saul, “I cannot go with these, for I have not tested them.” So David put them off.
David cut off the Giants head with the Giants sword
This man would later hunt David
David trusted and relied only on the Lord

Road to Calling is Filled by the Shaping of your Character

1 Samuel 20:30–33 ESV
Then Saul’s anger was kindled against Jonathan, and he said to him, “You son of a perverse, rebellious woman, do I not know that you have chosen the son of Jesse to your own shame, and to the shame of your mother’s nakedness? For as long as the son of Jesse lives on the earth, neither you nor your kingdom shall be established. Therefore send and bring him to me, for he shall surely die.” Then Jonathan answered Saul his father, “Why should he be put to death? What has he done?” But Saul hurled his spear at him to strike him. So Jonathan knew that his father was determined to put David to death.
Saul - ruler did not want to see the anointed rise
He pursued David to Kill him for no just cause
Moments of pursuit will shape us
There is an enemy even within the body that does not want you to step into your calling

Trust the Lord in the Cave

8 years on the run after being anointed - this season tested, pressed, and formed… Tired and seeking refuge
He could not find safe refuge
1 Samuel 22:1 ESV
David departed from there and escaped to the cave of Adullam. And when his brothers and all his father’s house heard it, they went down there to him.
Adullam - to lock in
David was being protected
There in the cave cry out
His family began to return
heard he was alone
they go to him
First those who are called to rally around you

The Return of the Scattered

1 Samuel 22:2 ESV
And everyone who was in distress, and everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was bitter in soul, gathered to him. And he became commander over them. And there were with him about four hundred men.
Today there is a calling home
the broken will return
The charge for the leader (shepherd, teacher, evangelist, prophet, apostle)
take care of the ones being gathered back to the Lord
In this season of the harvest we will see many return to the Lord.
The Lord is looking for the ones who will stand in defense of those who cannot
