The Price for Peace

July 31, 2022

2 Peter 3:14

‘Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless.’

The word, ‘diligent’ means steady, earnest, and energetic effort.

We are to be in peace with God ~ peace with each other ~ and peace within ourselves.

God wants our spirit, soul and body to be in alignment ~ in peace.

Isaiah 53:5

‘But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.’

Isaiah 53:4

‘Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.’

The word, ‘chastisement’ is Strong’s Concordance H4148 and means – chastening, check, correction, discipline, instruction, and rebuke.

Before we were reconciled back to God and became one with Him ~ we were enemies of God.

Romans 5:10 Colossians 1:21

There’s a price to pay for peace ~ Jesus paid that price.

Jesus brought peace between us and God.

Jesus brought us peace and healing ~ by His stripes.

The word, ‘healed’ is Strong’s H7495 ‘rapha’ and means – to cure, to mend, to repair, to thoroughly make whole.

1 Thessalonians 5:23

‘Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.’

Ephesians 1:7

‘In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.’

The peace & healing of our soul and body were taken care of by the stripes that Jesus bore in His body, on our behalf.

The word, ‘stripes’ is Strong’s H2250 chabbuwrah (pronounced khab-boo-raw) and means – bruise, hurt, wound, and bound.

Proverbs 20:30

‘Blows that hurt cleanse away evil, as do stripes the inner depths of the heart.’

Psalm 147:3

‘He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.’

Isaiah 53:4

‘Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows…’

The word, ‘grief’ is Strong’s H2483 and means – disease, sickness, malady, anxiety, calamity.

The word, ‘sorrow’ is Strong’s H4341 and means – grief, pain, anguish and affliction.

Both grief and sorrow speak of mental and emotional illnesses also, not just physical illness.

Jesus paid the price ~ for our healing and our peace.

When He comes back ~ He will find us in peace!
