“We have everything we need… so make every effort to add to it…” This is the logic of this week’s passage. Last week we considered the gift of the gospel, which Peter goes on to show, is all about God’s power and promises. And this week, we consider how that gift is put to use – how we invest it and capitalise on it. Throughout the passage is an underlying urge that we do not waste what we have been given, but that we use it for godly and productive lives in Christ. Not that this means we go beyond the foundation that Peter starts with, because he urges us to stay grounded in that gospel, every step of the way.
