Deuteronomy 8:2

We know the...
“who” of the wilderness
“what” of the wilderness
“when” of the wilderness
“where” of the wilderness
“how” of the wilderness
Here are the THINGS that reveal the “why” of the wilderness:

I. God Humbled Them.

“to humble thee”
God hates pride. (Proverbs 8:13; Ezekiel 16:49; Mark 7:22)
The devil is the king of pride. (Job 41:34; Proverbs 16:18)
Obadiah 1:3; 1 Timothy 3:6; 1 John 2:16

II. God Proved Them.

“to prove thee”
Prove (Oxford) - demonstrate to be the specified thing by evidence or argument
God showed them from the beginning.
God knows the end. (Deuteronomy 8:16; 13:3; 1 Peter 1:7)

III. God Revealed Them.

“to know what was in the heart” (Proverbs 17:3)
“whether thou wouldest keep his commandments or no” (Exodus 16:4)

Conclusion:

Are you where you are in life because of you?
Or because God is working on you?
Deuteronomy 8:3 (AV)
And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.
