Luke 7: 11-17 (AMPC)
11 Soon afterward, Jesus went to a town called Nain, and His disciples and a great throng accompanied Him.
12 [Just] as He drew near the gate of the town, behold, a man who had died was being carried out–the only son of his mother, and she was a widow; and a large gathering from the town was accompanying her.
13 And when the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, Do not weep.
14 And He went forward and touched the funeral bier, and the pallbearers stood still. And He said, Young man, I say to you, arise [from death]!
15 And the man [who was] dead sat up and began to speak. And [Jesus] gave him [back] to his mother.
16 Profound and reverent fear seized them all, and they began to recognize God and praise and give thanks, saying, A great Prophet has appeared among us! And God has visited His people [in order to help and care for and provide for them]!
17 And this report concerning [Jesus] spread through the whole of Judea and all the country round about. [I Kings 17:17-24; II Kings 4:32-37.]

ME
HOW DO I STRUGGLE WITH THIS?
Life has a way of altering the way you look at thing and also prioritizing something, like currently right now as i speak I have about 4 different things that i need to address and i am going to be honest I don't want to deal with any of them and if not careful just like me you would allow those things to rob you of your peace and your desire to do anything else.
Being hard headed can be a blessing and a curse for you. My reason for saying that is that we have to find the right thing to be stubborn about. Some of things that we are hard headed about may be beneficial for you at the time but are they destiny driven or pride driven.
When we allow the speed bumps of life to rob us of our passion then some of the things that use to excite you no longer does, because the trials of life have taken the wind out of your sails and now your just floating and being pulled in any direction that the wind decide to blow

WE
HOW DO WE ALL STRUGGLE WITH THIS?
When was the last time you allowed something or someone to rob you of not only your joy but your passion to move forward. We all have been at that place before, to where it seems like there is no end. Everytime things are going good and then all of a sudden something out of the blue just comes and snatches what peace, joy, and happiness that you had stored and now you are back to square one.
The hardest thing to do when you have been knocked down plenty of times is to keep that same energy and expectation when you start getting back up, because in the back of your mind we are always thinking when something is going to happen to take this moment away from me.
Truth be told as I stand here before you I would be lying if i said that after you have been through a few trials that they all would be over but that's not the case
James 1:2-3 tells us to count it all joy when we fall into various trials knowing that the testing of our Faith produce patience
That doesn't make sense but that's Faith and without it not only can we not please him but the thing that needs life will never get because we didn't put it on God's radar.
Timing is everything with God

GOD
WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT THIS?
An we can see the timing of God in the scripture.
We are not given enough details to determine what happened to the widow's son. We just know that he has died and they are heading towards the gates of the city and just as they are making their way outside the gate there is a crowd of people on their way inside the gates.
The crowd was Jesus, many of his disciples( this is not the 12 although they were with him) these were his followers, they were there looking at all of the miracles that Jesus was doing.
As they make their way to Nain which is a 2 days journey from Capernaum, not only did it take them two days to get there but it was also 700ft above sea level so he had to travel uphill.
Upon arriving at Nain Jesus comes see the processional of a funeral that has just finished up and they were taking the boy outside of the city gates following behind the men carrying her son was his mother who was a Widow( it something about widow women that God has the heart of God because this is not the first widow that had a miracled worked out for herr but we will deal with that later) and a crowd of people walking with her.
We have all been to a funeral before where everyone is surrounding the parent that has lost their loved one and as they are leaving something happens.
A Lot of time we are looking for God to help us out of pity because we are experiencing a hard season right now but this widow had a different look on her face, Pastor how can you say that because loss carries a certain countenance which can be seen in verse 13, it says that the Lord saw her and upon seeing her he was moved by compassion.
Is says what he had compassion not sympathetic about her loss
Compassion- is to recognize the suffering of others and then take action to help. Compassion embodies a tangible expression of love for those who are suffering
This is the third incident where a child has died and they are getting ready to be raised up.
The first one took place in I Kings 17: 19-23
19 And he said to her, “Give me your son.” So he took him out of her arms and carried him to the upper room where he was staying, and laid him on his own bed. 20Then he cried out to the Lord and said, “O Lord my God, have You also brought tragedy on the widow with whom I lodge, by killing her son?” 21 And he stretched himself out on the child three times, and cried out to the Lord and said, “O Lord my God, I pray, let this child’s soul come back to him.” 22 Then the Lord heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came back to him, and he revived.
23 And Elijah took the child and brought him down from the upper room into the house, and gave him to his mother. And Elijah said, “See, your son lives!
Verse 21 And he stretched himself upon the child three times and cried to the Lord and said, O Lord my God, I pray You, let this child's soul come back into him.
I love verse 22 because that piggybacks off of the message from last week because in order to get God involved you have to open your mouth so it says the Lord heard the voice of Elijah.
When was the last time you were consistent in your prayer. What if Elijah would have stop after the first time
the second rising of a boy was in II Kings 4:32-37
32 When Elisha came into the house, there was the child, lying dead on his bed. 33 He went in therefore, shut the door behind the two of them, and prayed to the Lord. 34 And he went up and lay on the child, and put his mouth on his mouth, his eyes on his eyes, and his hands on his hands; and he stretched himself out on the child, and the flesh of the child became warm. 35 He returned and walked back and forth in the house, and again went up and stretched himself out on him; then the child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes. 36 And he called Gehazi and said, “Call this Shunammite woman.” So he called her. And when she came in to him, he said, “Pick up your son.” 37 So she went in, fell at his feet, and bowed to the ground; then she picked up her son and went out.
Here we see the Shunammite woman after her son dies she takes him upstairs and places him on the bed of the prophet and then leaves to go get the man of God.
When Elisha makes it back to the house and goes upstairs into the room he sees the boy laying on the bed and lay on him and begins to pray. After the first time the boy body becomes warm so he leave the room and walks through the house, we are not told what he was doing after he left the room but my speculation is that he was thanking the lord for warming the body of this young boy. he goes back for the second time and lay across him again and now this times the boys sneezes 7 times, i don't have to remind you that the number 7 represent completes, so the boy sneezing 7 times signifies that whatever the man of God was praying for has been completed.
Elisha call the Shunammite woman forth and tells her to pick up her son
If we are paying attention to see what we just witness in those scriptures we can see a progression of this act taking place.
With Elijah it took him lying upon the boy three times before life came back unto him and we see the with Elisha it took him lying upon the boy two times and the boy came back to life
Which brings us back to Jesus and the Widow's woman son who is being carried right before him and the love and compassion that he has which prompt to act on behalf of the widow and he tells her DO NOT WEEP!
If you not careful this statement can sound insensitive because the average person is going to show some type of emotion because they have just lost something that mean alot to them
Jesus was not being insensitive but what we see here is a case of different perceptions.
The widow is crying because she has just lost her son and that the only thing she see at the moment but from Jesus perception he was looking at something different because he already knew what the outcome was going to be , so with him knowing the out he has the boldness and confidence to speak those 3 word to the widow DO NOT WEEP.
Has there been something that you have buried prematurely without taking it to Jesus
I see something you don't see and the next thing Jesus does is touch the coffin that the boy is laying
Now the women with the issue of blood needed to touch the hem of Jesus to get her healing but the Widow just needed to get her Son close to Jesus to be healed.

YOU
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO ABOUT THIS?
Sometimes you have to position yourself to get the thing you need just ask blind Bartimaeus he put himself in the pathway to be seen by Jesus and in doing so receive his sight because he was in the right place at the right time
And in this case the Widow put her son in the right place at the right time to get her son healed.
Let's go back because i think you missed what just happened because we got wrapped up in finished product, but the scripture say that jesus touch the coffin and not the child
The first 2 miracles that raised the boys from the dead they both got touched, but Jesus did not him but the thing that was holding him.
In order for you to bring life back to the thing that has died you must get in in the vicinity of Jesus so he can touch
One touch from the Lord , let me say that again just One touch from the Lord, one more time so that it can stir up something in your Spirit One touch from the Lord will bring life back into that dead place or that dead area.
Nothing can stay dead in the presence of the Lord you, if you have something in your life that you have brought unto God and he did not give it life , it's due to the fact that it was not truly a passion for you.
It's getting used as a cliche but it's a true statement that God truly knows our heart.

WE
HOW CAN WE ALL LIVE THIS OUT TOGETHER?
Close with several statements about what could happen in your community, your church, or the world if everybody embraced that particular truth.
The life that we live is a testimony to others and when we give Jesus the opportunity the touch those dead things in our lives and once they have life back we began to share our experience with world, and truth be told you have a have people around you then they may share your story to others and it begins to draw people to you.
The people are not being drawn to you for you to be popular but they are coming so you can show the thing that Jesus has touched and brought it back to life.
