THE KINGDOM PARABLE OF THE NET August 7, 2022 The Kingdom Parable Of The Net • Matthew 13:47–50 (NIV) — 47 “Once again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was let down into the lake and caught all kinds of fish. 48 When it was full, the fishermen pulled it up on the shore. Then they sat down and collected the good fish in baskets, but threw the bad away. 49 This is how it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous 50 and throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth The Kingdom Parable Of The Net • Matthew 13:51–52 (NIV) — 51 “Have you understood all these things?” Jesus asked. “Yes,” they replied. 52 He said to them, “Therefore every teacher of the law who has been instructed about the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom new treasures as well as old.” The Kingdom Parable Of The Net •The Net Catches All Kinds And Types Of Fish •All The Fish Were Netted, Pulled Up To Be Sorted •The Good Fish Were Collected And Kept And Put Into Crates •The Bad Fish Were Discarded And Thrown Away The Kingdom Parable Of The Net •This Is The Story Of The End Of The Age o The Angels Will Separate The Righteous From The Wicked o The Righteous Will Be Kept o The Wicked Will Be Thrown Into A Fiery Furnace Where There Is Weeping And Gnashing Of Teeth The Kingdom Parable Of The Net • The Net Catches All The Fish – None Of Them Get Away •The Fish Caught Will Be Pulled Up On Shore And Sorted •The Good Fish are Collected & Saved • The Bad Fish are Discarded & Burned Up The Kingdom Parable Of The Net His Judgment Has A Purpose.  His judgment displays His glory;  it vindicates the righteous;  defends the weak;  brings salvation;  punishes sin;  and turns people back to Him.  Keener, C. Matthew - IVP The Kingdom Parable Of The Net •Jesus Asked His Disciples “Do You Understand This?” “Yes,” They Said •Jesus Is Saying: Put This Kingdom Information Into Your Store Of Knowledge & Understanding • Let This Be The Treasure You Will Sell All To Acquire • It’s About The Growing, Advancing, Godly , Forever Kingdom The Kingdom Parable Of The Net •Jesus Taught The Difference Between Righteous and Wicked  It Is a Matter Of The Heart  It Is Not Based On Outer Actions But On Inward Condition  Faithfulness to the Kingdom starts in the Heart The Kingdom Parable Of The Net • Jesus Punctuates His Teaching On The Understanding Of Future Destiny Of All People Noting That: •There Is A Narrow Or A Wide Gate •There Is Good Or Bad Fruit •There Are Wise Or Foolish Builders •There Is A Narrow Road To Set Our Sights On. •The Narrow Road Is The One We Should Enter Through •It Is The Only Road That's Going To Get Us There The Kingdom Parable Of The Net •Everyone Will Be Either Collected Or Discarded What Should We Do? •We Must Be on Guard So We Aren't Swept Away by The Spirit of The Age •We Cannot Be Deceived, Deluded Or Become Lawless. •We Cannot Simply Drift, Or We Will Drift Away •Sin That Is Accommodated Soon Becomes Addictive & Compulsive The Kingdom Parable Of The Net • We Must Pay Attention To What Jesus Christ Said About Those Who Were Unrepentant, Unchanging And Resisting The Kingdom • When The Kingdom Is Revealed To Us, We Must Choose It For Our Lives And For Our Future The Kingdom Parable Of The Net • Righteousness Is Available For All Through Christ -Product Of His Grace And Mercy  It Is A Yes Or No Choice  A Decision For All People To Make  To Accept, Or To Reject: Is Everything A The Kingdom Parable Of The Net The Three Kingdom Responses To This Parable #1) We Must Learn The Truth •There Are Two Classes Of Humanity, Saved & Unsaved •There Are Two Judgments: A Different One For Each Class • 1. The Judgment Seat Of Christ.( For Believers) • 2. The Great White Throne Judgment. ( Non-Believers) The Kingdom Parable Of The Net • God’s Word Is Not Our Enemy -- It Is Our Friend • Jesus Has Told Us The Parable Of The Net • To Remind Us To Believe In Him • To Receive Him & To Be Ready The Kingdom Parable Of The Net #2) We Must Live The Truth •As Disciples We Don’t Simply Learn About Truth.  We Live It , We Practice It, We Do It. •(Mat 7:24 NIV) "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock The Kingdom Parable Of The Net • (James 1:22 NIV) Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. • It Is Not The Hearing But The Doing That Brings The Blessing. The Kingdom Parable Of The Net #3) We Must Lead Others To The Truth • As His Kingdom Disciples We Can Share And Lead Others To The Truth That We Ourselves Have Encountered • What We Have Known All Along About Jesus • What We Are Learning About His Kingdom Truth The Kingdom Parable Of The Net •God Still Cares About “One” •(Luke 19:10 NIV) For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost." •Jesus Wants To Save All Of The Lost -- But He Is Not Above Reaching Out To The Individual • It’s Not Just Learning About The Kingdom --It’s Kingdom Learning Mixed With Kingdom Living –A Willingness To Lead Others To Christ And His Kingdom That Will Accomplish What God Has for Us The Kingdom Parable Of The Net •There Is Only One Means Of Escaping The White Throne Judgment: •The Cleansing Blood Of Jesus Applied To Your Heart •1 John 1:7 " The Blood Of Jesus Purifies Us From All Sin." •We Must Remember: God Has Provided A Way Of Escape The Kingdom Parable Of The Net • You Can Be On The Road To Life Everlasting and Be Assured That Your Eternal Home Is In Heaven  A-dmit You Are A Sinner – For All Have Sinned  B-elieve Jesus Is Lord  C-all Upon His Name – Those Who Call Upon The Name Of The Lord Shall Be Saved
