Intro:
A woman told her husband, “ I dreamed you gave me a gold necklace. What do you think that it means?”
“ I don’t know, Valentine’s Day is coming soon, maybe you’ll find out.”
The next day she said; “ I dreamed you gave me a pearl necklace. What do you think that means?”
“ You will know Valentine’s Day,” he replied.
The night before Valentine’s Day, “ This time I dreamed you bought me a diamond necklace. What do you think that means?
“Honey, be patient. You’ll know tomorrow.”
For Valentine’s Day he gave her a book- “The Meaning of Dream.”
What do you get somebody you’re in love with? We are to love God, for he first loved us. He shows us his love at Calvary. How do we show our love for Him?
I want to begin in Psalm 51:10
Create a clean heart for me, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit ⌊within me⌋.
The word create means to bring into existence something that was not previously there. There’s more here David is asking to be forgiven. He already asked that of God purge me with hyssop and I shall be clean wash me and I should be whiter than snow
Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean.
Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
See David now moves onto his prayer. Lord, thank you for your forgiveness. But now I need to ask you for something new. I did what I did because my simple heart wanted to do it. And if you simply forgive my sin,but leave my heart in the same condition as it was before, i’m fearful that I’ll do it again.
Oh Lord, I need more than forgiveness. And thank you for your cleansing. Create in me a clean heart, oh God! Bring into existence what I have not, a clean heart, a heart that is after you more than sin.
My child, may you give your heart to me,
and may your eyes delight in my ways.
Today I want to speak of all of us who would say, I have Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior of my life. I love him. I trust him. My hope is in him but where do I go from here
I want us to look at four observations
Relationship
The one who gives his or her heart to the Lord it’s is not a stranger, not an enemy, not a slave. The one who gives his heart to the Lord is described here is a son or daughter this goes to the heart of the dynamics of a Christian faith the giving of the heart comes out of the knowledge of an establish relationship.
romans 8:15
For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry out, “Abba! Father!”
2. Essential Priority
Your heart, as a Christian, It’s like a Walt city with enemies on the outside. There are all the temptations of the world. The flesh and the devil that comes from outside. These are like enemies outside the world city, and you need to guard your heart against them. Keep the gates closed to anyone or anything that would lead you on a destructive path.
3. Intentional response
