what does obedience look like to you?
Obedience is not be neglected in ministry.
In fact jesus himself made sure to make obedience a major point of his life.
Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Jesus was obedient in all of his life even with his life.
Jesus was obedient by going to the cross of Calvary and dying for our sins.
His obedience came at a large cost.
What are some ways in you life you have failed to display obedience?
The truth is that disobedience is difficult.
As Mankind feels as though they can do it on their own.
so comes the inevitable issue of disobedience.
after all we would not need another if we could do it on our own.
what causes us to feel the need to be disobedient and do it alone?
the matter of truth is that sin entered the world and caused disobedience among Gods creation.
When this disobedience came it caused a people group that did not care for Gods truth.
In fact, it became man’s elate desire to go against Gods will.
so this brings us the question, how can we get back?
How is it that man could ever recover from such a tragedy?
the truth is on our own we cannot recover.
recovery of such an issue can only be done through Christ himself.
His death on Cal varies cross is the biggest symbol of obedience we could ever imagine.
what does the obedience of Christ make you think of?
The obedience of Christ is the perfect example of sacrifice and will for the fathers plan.
i would encourage you all to consider what it looks like to be obedient in your life?
Perhaps there was a time in your life you can prominently remember in which you had been disobedient
perhaps you were found out by your parents or another member of your family group and you felt guilt.
yet so often we find disobedience in our everyday life and hardly acknowledge the presence and existence of it.
So the question comes, how does being obedient make us a good leader?
It seems counter intuitive.
After all, a leader commands what to do, he does not take commands.
At least that is what the world wants many to believe.
In reality, being a servant is being capable of being led.
A good servant must know how to listen.
Which is why this eight part series that the youth have working through displays the perfect leader.
In most of Jesus’s qualities we find him submissive.
Obedient to the father and the fathers will.
Yet we consider Jesus a famously good leader.
In fact almost all religions hold Jesus in some high regard, not just Christianity.
In the life of Jesus we do occasionally find him telling others what to do.
But the reason he can do that is because he has been in the trenches.
He has displayed leadership.
Even unto his death on the cross he displayed leadership through his obedience to the father.
Think of this, Jesus did not want to die.
I will say that again, Jesus did not want to die.
He wanted to live, even on earth, he didn’t desire pain which was inevitable.
Yet, the father called for obedience, so he followed in obedience.
Why do you think that being a leader would first require you to be an obedient servant?
Imagine, a boss who always shouts orders but refuses to do the things that he asks others to do.
You wouldn’t respect him much would you?
The reason you wouldn’t respect him is because he has proven to you that he is not a man worthy of your respect.
Jesus did not do this...
Jesus proved why he deserved respect.
