A song of Salvation Isaiah 12:2 Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The LORD, the LORD, is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.” To begin with brothers and sisters, Christian Friends, Well Wishers, and Saints of God, Let’s read the text again 2  Behold, God is my salvation;I will trust, and not be afraid:For the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song;He also is become my salvation.today is a good day, because this is the day that the Lord has made and I will rejoice and be glad in it. When I think about what this song in Isaiah 12 means I just want to sing and shout the victory. Is there anybody in here that wants victory today. There is victory in El- Yeshuati The God of my Salvation. This Isaiah 12 text is A Salvation Song. The NCV says 2  God is the one who saves me; I will trust him and not be afraid. The LORD, the LORD gives me strength and makes me sing. He has saved me.”

Everybody ought to have a Salvation Song meaning everybody ought to have a song that moves them every time you hear it!!! because that was the song that you got saved on.

And this song in the text has a great history. Can I tell the story? After Moses’ death God chose Joshua, as his successor. Joshua was a mighty military warrior leader. And Joshua was commissioned commanded and compelled to bring Israel out of a bleak and miserable tenture with the wilderness. That was a nice way of saying that The children of Israel was supposed to reach the Promised Land in 40 days but it took them 40 years because of their disobedience. Obedience is better than sacrifice.

And now Joshua has the task of actually bringing the next generation into the Promised Land. And The Promised Land of Caanan according to Deuteronomy 6:3 was a land that flowed with milk and honey. And brothers and sisters Once the Israelites were in the Promised Land, God’s desire was that His people would experience peace and rest.Say Amen Because I want peace and rest in my life. How about you?

This story has been rehearsed over and over again . In Exodus 15:2 this song was sung by Moses after Pharaoh’s Army drowned in the Red Sea and the Children of Israel march through the Red Sea on dry land. This song was sung again in Jerusalem when the Priest Ezra along with Nehemiah sang the song of salvation for the rebuilding and rededication of the temple after it has began to fall down and crumble. And finally in the future this song The Lord has become my Salvation will be sung when El Yesuati or Jesus the Christ is accepted by the Jewish Nation as the True King of the Jews and the King of Glory and the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.

This song in Isaiah 12 has several unique characteristics. Let’s see if we can find at least 6 nuggets from the text. 1. In verse 1. The text says that the people are now going to praise the Lord because the Lord is no longer angry with them… Meaning that the Children of Israel had provoked the Lord to anger. And this isn’t anything new because the Children of Israel was always this way, they do good for a while then after a while they fall off the wagon again.Over and over and over again. And sometimes we do the same thing. 2. In verse 2. Our theme verse we find that Isaiah is declaring that El Yeshuati is the God of our Salvation. And Salvation comes from the Doctrine of soteriology that means God’s Salvation provides security meaning you can count on God, God’s Salvation provides safety meaning that God is my protector from hurt harm and danger. and then God’s Salvation rescues me meaning that God saves me just when I need to be brought up out of a messy situation. Anybody ever been in a messy situation.

El Yeshuati is our Salvation! Did You’ll know that Joshua’s name means Yahweh is Salvation Jehovah is Salvation Jehovah Saves And let me kick it up a notch the name Joshua is also another name for Jesus. 3. The third fact is found in verse the text says “With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation”. After the Lord has forgiven us He wants us to have a joyous life. Listen I may not have a lot of stuff and things but the joy of the Lord is my strength Come on say Amen, Because this joy I have the world didn’t give it to me and the world surely can’t take it away. 4. the text says in verse 4 In that day you will say: “Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted. I look up the dynamics of God’s name in this Isaiah 12 text and I found out something new.... Somebody ask me what it was Doc. I found out that the name Jehovah which is the Hebrew name for God occurs over 6,000 times in the OT alone and here’s the part that blow my mind, The mere fact that the Hebrews could say God’s name using vowel they used the consonance sounds and when modern language documented the written name of God it became the Tetra- Grammation. If you study you’ll find out stuff you never knew before. And for the record I realize that Theologians were on to something great when they said that the angels bow before God saying holy holy holy and every time they did it, it was for another great reason. And so this Isaiah 12 text gives me another great reason to exalt the Name of the Lord. And right here is where I would say you can’t tell it like I can tell it what the Lord has done for me. You can’t tell my story you got to tell your own story about how God opened doors that’s been closed in your face, How God healed your body, How God made away our of no way, How God was bread in a starving land for you.How God put a roof over your head How God made your children behave and stay out of trouble and are still on the land of the living, How you should have been dead sleeping in your grave but God made old Cancer behave. You’ve got to tell your own story about How God have miraculously and meticulously and mightily worked on your behalf.

I bet if you’d ever really let go everybody in here would think that you’ve lost your everlasting mind.

Tell your neighbor: I ain’t gon say nothing if you let loose

Then the 5th fact in verse 5 Sing unto the LORD; for he hath done excellent things: This is known in all the earth.

The Children of Israel in Moses Aaron and Joshua’s Day had a lot to sing and shout about.

The Children of Israel in David and Solomon’s Day had a lot to sing and shout about.

The Children of Israel in Ezra and Nehemiah’s Day had a lot to sing and shout about

The Children of Israel in Isaiah Jeremiah and Ezekiel‘s Day had a lot to sing and shout about.

And all the way from biblical antiquity to here and now in the present day Saints of God we too have a lot to sing and shout about Because God has been so good to us.

God’s Salvation is wonderful and comprehensively glorious because His Salvation encompasses the Past, the Present, and the Future. Every aspect and every step of the way God has been instrumental in the development of our spiritual beings.

And then finally the sixth fact in verse 6. And let me give a footnote for the record. These folk that were back in biblical antiquity didn’t have the sophisticated research of the Doctrine of Socteriology . Socteriology is the doctrine of Salvation. But they knew that Salvation is the security, safety and rescue by the Lord to His people.

And even today you don’t have to know all of the technical stuff , but if you know that God is my Salvation you can Shouting about that for yourself. Look at verse 6. and I’m out of your way “ Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: For great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee.

The Holy One of Israel is talking about Jesus. Because that’s how the song ends. It Begins and ends with Jesus. El Yeshuati refers to Jesus in verse 2

and the Holy One of Israel refers to Jesus in verse 6. start closing slowly

Everything in this bible Great God is either is talking about Jesus or pointing towards the finished work of Jesus Christ. And we ought to be excited about the Song of Salvation in Isaiah 12:1-6 because in the NT the scriptures the bible says that there is no other name under the heavens whereby men must be saved except the Name of Jesus. Yes

Because when I talk about Jesus I think about my Rock in the wearied land shelter in the time of storm. Oh Lord When I talk about Jesus I think about my Lilly of the Valley my Bright and Morning Star and the Rose of Sharon Oh Lord

but most of all when I talk about Jesus I think of Him as my Savior and the God of my Salvation

Oh Yes He is When I talk about Jesus I think about my Propitiation.Oh Lord. He took my place when I was too mean to live and wasn’t fit to die

When I was on my way to hell with no weapon in my hand and no God on my side Oh but Jesus He stepped in right on time Yes He did.

Because One Friday Great God yes Jesus died on the cross for your sins and for mine. He died 3x Didn’t He died but that’s not the end of the story Oh Lordy Because Early 5th 7th 8th Sunday Morning 8th He Got Up with All Power in His Hands 8th Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! 5th 4th 3rd 1st Lord
