INTRO
Good morning, friends, we’re so glad you have tuned in to hear God’s Precepts and Promises this morning brought to you by the Rome Church of Christ.
We’re examining Christianity systematically--taking all the Bible has to say on a subject and putting it together as best as possible.
Letting the Bible speak
Today we want to look at the worship of the church.
DISCUSSION
God desires worship (Jn 4:23-24; Rev 4:11)
Worship: to express in attitude or gesture one’s complete dependence on or submission to a high authority figure, (fall down and) worship
We ascribe worth to God in worship (Ferguson 207)
Worship on the first day of the week, regularly (Heb 10:25; Rev 1:10)
The church is to worship according to Jesus’ authority (Col 3:17)

Q: Do I have to assemble to worship? Can’t I worship anywhere?
A: Yes one may worship anywhere, but certain things are only done in the church. One may sing to the Lord out in the woods, but one cannot teach and admonish the trees. You can pray, but you cannot pray together with your brothers and sisters. You cannot take communion alone. Always done in the assembly.
5 authorized avenues of worship
Preaching (Acts 20:7; 2 Tim 4:2)
Singing (Eph 5:19; Col 3:16)
Lord’s Supper (Acts 20:7)
Giving (1 Cor 16:1-2; 2 Cor 9:6-7)
Prayer (Acts 2:42; 1 Cor 14:15)
CONCLUSION
Sum: The church we read of in the Bible is worships according to truth and spirit.
Next Week: Continue thinking about the church
Until then, We encourage you to hear His precepts and trust His promises
