ACTS 2:1-12
ACTS 1:4-5 - Jesus tells his disciples to not leave Jerusalem but to wait until the arrival
of the Holy Spirit.
Pentecost is what is known in the OT as the “Feast of ____________” also known as the
“Feast of _______________”
○ Celebrated on day __________ after the passover
○ EXODUS 34:22; LEVITICUS 23:16; LEVITICUS 23:15-22
How long did the disciples have to wait after Jesus ascended into Heaven, to receive the
Holy Spirit? _________ days

○ Resurrected 3 days later (LUKE 24:7)
○ Appeared to his disciples over a period of 40 days (ACTS 1:3)
○ So Jesus ascended to Heaven 42 days after Passover (on the 43rd day of

○ And Pentacost was to be celebrated on the 50th day of Passover (or 49 days
after Passover)
At Pentecost, an offering of the first fruits was made.

ACTS 2:2 - Wind is frequently used in scripture as a description of the Spirit.
○ EZEKIEL 37:9-10
○ JOHN 3:8

ACTS 2:4 - The Holy Spirit enabled them to speak in other languages.

native language.

Being filled with the Holy Spirit as the disciples were is a bit different from the Holy Spirit
entering your life.
○ Being filled with the Holy Spirit as the disciples were is more like being baptized
in the Holy Spirit.
■ Being baptized means being completely immersed or covered. Fully
covered.
