Trust in One’s Self Causes a Person to Ignore Common Sense and Sound Judgment (Proverbs 18:1-2)

Proverbs 18:1-2 ESV Whoever isolates himself seeks his own desire; he breaks out against all sound judgment. 2  A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion. NLT 1 Unfriendly people care only about themselves; they lash out at common sense. 2 Fools have no interest in understanding; they only want to air their own opinions.

True Justice Never Shows Partiality - Be Sure You don’t Favor The Wicked (Proverbs 18:5)

Proverbs 18:5 ESV It is not good to be partial to the wicked or to deprive the righteous of justice. Proverbs 24:23-25 23 These also are sayings of the wise. Partiality in judging is not good. 24  Whoever says to the wicked, “You are in the right,” will be cursed by peoples, abhorred by nations, 25 but those who rebuke the wicked will have delight, and a good blessing will come upon them. Leviticus 19:15 15 “You shall do no injustice in court. You shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great, but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbor

Taming The Tongue is an essential requirement for the Righteous (Proverbs 18:6-8)

Proverbs 18:6-8 6  A fool’s lips walk into a fight, and his mouth invites a beating.

7  A fool’s mouth is his ruin, and his lips are a snare to his soul.

8  The words of a whisperer are like delicious morsels; they go down into the inner parts of the body.

Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.

Two Sides always Requires Careful Examination (Proverbs 18:17)

Proverbs 18:17 17  The one who states his case first seems right, until the other comes and examines him.

18  The lot puts an end to quarrels and decides between powerful contenders.

19  A brother offended is more unyielding than a strong city, and quarreling is like the bars of a castle.
