Tell the story of Ira and Ann Yates and his oil during the Great Depression.
1. Do What God Said
Elijah, has been instructed to leave where he was.
And it is up to him to claim what God has promised him.
At some point God has already instructed this woman to provide for Elijah.
This is something remarkable church because she is a widow in Sidon.
Sidon is a wicked idolatrous place.
Yet, she has enough faith and trust in the one true and living God, to trust His voice instead of the other gods competing for her loyalty.
2. Be Willing to Sacrifice
She does not have a secured income that we know of.
We do know that he has a son.
We do know that she has a household to see after.
And here comes Elijah, asking for what she has just enough of to eat once more and die.
Here is what gets me.
God has already been good to her.
God has already been blessing her.
How do we know, she has water!
(Preach)
He test of faith wasn’t simply that she didn’t trust God with what she had, it was that she prioritized herself over the Kingdom.
10% isn’t even a good sale.
3. Understand your Source
Your resource is not your source.
The way in which you receive provisions, money, income, food; none of it is your source.
God is our source and He never runs dry.
If we are not careful we will look to much to our resources and not our our only Source.
(Radio, job)
Resource is natural
Source is Supernatural
