There is a very profound and simple statement in our passage today. There was dearth everywhere, but in Egypt there was bread. This made things plain for people the world over. If they wanted to live, they needed to go to Egypt and buy grain. In Isaiah 55, God gives His gospel invitation to receive Christ. He is the only bread that can satisfy--why would you waste your time on anything else? We need to keep looking up to Jesus and telling Him we trust Him to forgive our sins, give us His promise
