There has been a huge shift in the make up of college football.
NIL deals changing landscape.
Some fans like it, some fans don’t.
Some coaches like it, some coaches don’t.
Some players love it, some players don’t.
Students who play college sports can now make money off their Name, Image and Likeness.
I was reading the story of creation and got to the sixth day.
New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (Chapter 1) Genesis 1:26-31
26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”27
God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
Let Us and in Our = No other
1.
DISTINCTION
Extension (What I tell staff about who I need them to be)
I don’t want them to be themselves(We are not talking about personalities)
I don’t want them to think for themselves(Our thinking is illogical)
I don’t want them deciding whats right or wrong, fair or unfair (
Why did God make us then?
Wrong Question.
If we under stand HOW God made us then we will understand why!
He made us with distinction.
2. PURPOSE
New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (Chapter 1)
29 Then God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you;30 and to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the sky and to every thing that moves on the earth which has life, I have given every green plant for food”; and it was so.
3. DOMINION
New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (Chapter 1)
31 God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good.
And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
4. CONFIRMATION
This make up of man and woman was the prototype of everything we should be.
God created us but Sin separated us
Notice in none of the above verses, while laying out the distinction of man, the purpose of man, the dominion of man, and he confirmation of man, there was NO MENTION OF THE MAN! Adam’s name wasn’t spoken.
There’s a saying in the world of sports, that the name on the front of the Jersey is more important than the name on the back.
God didn’t set this prototype up for just for Adam.
The name on the back doesn’t matter and the name on the front is a representation of His Image and His Likeness.
The Redemption
Ephesians 4:22-24 “Since, then, we do not have the excuse of ignorance, everything—and I do mean everything—connected with that old way of life has to go.
It’s rotten through and through.
Get rid of it!
And then take on an entirely new way of life—a God-fashioned life, a life renewed from the inside and working itself into your conduct as God accurately reproduces his character in you.”
