American Standard Version (Chapter 25)
25 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. 2 And five of them were foolish, and five were wise. 3 For the foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them: 4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 5 Now while the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. 6 But at midnight there is a cry, Behold, the bridegroom! Come ye forth to meet him. 7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are going out. 9 But the wise answered, saying, Peradventure there will not be enough for us and you: go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. 10 And while they went away to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage feast: and the door was shut. 11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. 12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. 13 Watch therefore, for ye know not the day nor the hour.
King James Version (Word Search Edition) (Psalm 32)
1 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. 2 Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile. 3 When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long. 4 For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah. 5 I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah. 6 For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him.7 Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah. 8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.
In these verses from Psalm 32, David is telling us that blessed are we, when we are forgiven and also blessed is the person who is without guile, in their being, that is, in their person, their souls and their lives. Then, he, David, tell us that he kept silent and he grew old and his vitality dried up like a summer’s drought: these things, his loss of vitality and the roaring, of his inner-self, were do to his silence.
David, then, acknowledged and confessed his silence, his iniquity, his transgressions to the Lord Our Heavenly Father, God, and the Lord forgave him of these things: his silence, his iniquity, and his transgressions. David also had said that the hand of God laid heavy upon him, which we know as guilt.
Then, David testifies that we must acknowledge God and that every person who is seeking the kingdom of heaven and the Heavenly Father’s Righteousness must must acknowledge God and confess their sins, bend their knee -- and then speaking yes, yes, Christ Jesus is Lord, and we must do this, the bending of the knee and the confessing, in a time when God may be found....
So now let us when we read the verse Psalm 32:6 were it says, surely in the flood of great waters, they shall not come nigh unto him, it is not talking about the waters coming close to the person who prays, but it is saying, those who should have prayed when God could have been found but did not, will not come close to God, for the time is to late. We see this, being to late to pray in Jeremiah’s time, for although God extended time for Hezekiah because of his obedience, God told him, Hezekiah, it was to late for Israel, for the storms had already gathered.
Now we also see this same thing in the parable in the Ten Virgins, for Christ Jesus is not speaking about having brought a can extra oil along with you, but he is talking about living a life of devotion, and if we do not have this extra oil, this devotion, there will come a time, when God will call those of good deeds, those with the extra oil, into his kingdom, call those with of devotion , while those who did not bring any extra-oil, along, will be locked out and the door shut upon them: Christ Jesus will say to them, I tell you this, I know you not....
In this psalm we see a connection with the parable of the Ten Virgins: Psalm 32:6- - pray in a time that God may be found, explicitly, that is, it’s clear there are times when he cannot, and also, we have the five foolish virgins who did not bring extra-oil with them -- the oil representing devotion to God and his Gospel of the Lord Christ Jesus’s promise of eternal life, through repentance and belief.
Now David says: everyone who is godly prays while they can, and while God can be found and as the five wise virgins, they are living faithful lives and they have extra-oil when the floods come: Jesus saying, even though we all live daily lives, the five wise virgins lamps did not go out and they had extra-oil to keep them lighting; both the wise and the foolish virgins slumbered, but the wise had the lives of devotion, the extra-oil, when the bridegroom came to light their lamps, that is, trim their lamps.
Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were foolish, and five were wise. For the foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them: but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. Now while the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. But at midnight there is a cry, Behold, the bridegroom! Come ye forth to meet him. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are going out. But the wise answered, saying, Peradventure there will not be enough for us and you: go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. And while they went away to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage feast: and the door was shut. Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. Watch therefore, for ye know not the day nor the hour.
