Introduction
Suppose you are a doctor and there was some massive, worldwide disease that every person in the world had.
Suppose, though, that everyone had different symptoms from this disease, yet they all died from this disease.
Let’s also suppose that you, as a doctor, came up with the cure for this awful disease.
What would you say to a skilled physician like yourself, the doctor, who had the cure for this entire disease and told no one about it?
You see, this is the situation for many believers in Jesus.
We’ve been cured from our awful disease of sin.
We’re no longer destined for death, Yet, we have the cure and tell no one!
Why must we go and tell?
We have an urgent need in our world - a disease if you must - and we have the cure!
God’s heart is for the whole entire world - every person that has ever lived - to come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
As we examine 2 Peter 3:9, I believe we see four characteristics from God the Father about his heart for all people to come to know Him and be saved through Jesus Christ!
2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”
Characteristic #1 - God is Trustworthy
