BE BLESSED BY REVELATION part 1
BE BLESSED BY REVELATION part 1
SLIDE 1 “REVELATION”
SLIDE 2
John 14:27 (NASB95)
27 “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.
God’s peace is joy and contentment
The world bases its peace on its resources - God’s peace comes from relationship. To be right with God means to enjoy the peace of God.
The world’s peace depends on personal ability - for the follower of Christ peace depends on spiritual adequacy in Christ.
The world works for and hopes for peace - for the follower of Christ peace is a gift from God and received by faith.
Notice here that Jesus does not even say peace with world here in this verse

16 “You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you.
17 “This I command you, that you love one another.
SLIDE 7
John 15:18–19 (NASB95)
18 “If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you.
19 “If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you.
The word world repeated here several times by Jesus
I talk a lot about the world and its pressure, trying to pull us away from God, its’ influence to cause us to sin, the world’s deception that it tries to brainwash us with, What does that really mean? How was Jesus describing the world here in this passage?
SLIDE 8
THE WORLD HATES YOU / LOVES ITS OWN
world (kosmos) - inhabitants of the earth
ungodly multitude
men alienated from God / hostile to the cause of Christ
goods, endowments riches, advantages, pleasures -
hollow and frail to seduce from God
the world really uses the word love a lot, its part of the deception tactic the devil uses to draw a follower of Christ into the world with
SLIDE 9
THE WORLD LOVES ITS OWN
phileo - kiss, to approve of, affection based on interpersonal association
SLIDE 10
John 16:1–2 (NASB95)
1 “These things I have spoken to you so that you may be kept from stumbling.
2 “They will make you outcasts from the synagogue, but an hour is coming for everyone who kills you to think that he is offering service to God.
SLIDE 11
John 16:7 (NASB95)
7 “But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.
SLIDE 12
John 16:13 (NASB95)
13 “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.
SLIDE 13
John 16:14–15 (NASB95)
14 “He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you.
15 “All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you.
in 15:15 Jesus calls us friends the word friend in the greek used in that verse means “friend at court” and “inner circle around a king or emperor”
SLIDE 14
John 16:33 (NASB95)
33 “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”
SLIDE 15
Psalm 37:25 (NASB95)
25 I have been young and now I am old,
Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken
Or his descendants begging bread.
SLIDE 16
Revelation 1:1–2 (NASB95)
1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show to His bond-servants, the things which must soon take place; and He sent and communicated it by His angel to His bond-servant John,
2 who testified to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw.
SLIDE 17
Revelation (apokalypsis) - reveal, manifestation, coming
laying bear, making naked
instruction
Interesting that the dictionary references the book of revelation but define and give synonyms such as collapse, chaos, great disastrous fire, calamity, tragedy
But look at what the Lord says to tell His church in the next verse of Revelation
