Gideon was:
fearful,
filled with doubt, and
didn’t trust God...
Nevertheless, God used him in a mighty way — 40 years of peace followed him! Why because God led him to SO MUCH MORE!

Hindrances in building a strong relationship with God and man.
Hindrances in building a strong relationship with God and man.
1. Love of this World
1. Love of this World
Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you.
2. Desires and Pride
For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world.
FLESH
They stubbornly tested God in their hearts,
demanding the foods they craved.
gratification of their carnal appetites— Food and Beauty
Don’t lust for her beauty.
Don’t let her coy glances seduce you.
For a prostitute will bring you to poverty,
but sleeping with another man’s wife will cost you your life.

From conquering Jericho to the defeat of 3000 men at Ai
Joshua 7:20–22 (NLT)
Achan replied, “It is true! I have sinned against the Lord, the God of Israel. Among the plunder I saw a beautiful robe from Babylon, 200 silver coins, and a bar of gold weighing more than a pound. I wanted them so much that I took them. They are hidden in the ground beneath my tent, with the silver buried deeper than the rest.”
So Joshua sent some men to make a search. They ran to the tent and found the stolen goods hidden there, just as Achan had said, with the silver buried beneath the rest.
I believe that there are somethings that we don’t need in life, for when we have it—it will control us and we may loose our very focus in this life. Such as...
having too much authority
too much money
too much food
too much time on our hands
too much ability without control
The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too.
PRIDE
Daniel 4:28–33 (NLT)
28 “But all these things did happen to King Nebuchadnezzar. Twelve months later he was taking a walk on the flat roof of the royal palace in Babylon. As he looked out across the city, he said, ‘Look at this great city of Babylon! By my own mighty power, I have built this beautiful city as my royal residence to display my majestic splendor.’
31 “While these words were still in his mouth, a voice called down from heaven, ‘O King Nebuchadnezzar, this message is for you! You are no longer ruler of this kingdom. You will be driven from human society. You will live in the fields with the wild animals, and you will eat grass like a cow. Seven periods of time will pass while you live this way, until you learn that the Most High rules over the kingdoms of the world and gives them to anyone he chooses.’
33 “That same hour the judgment was fulfilled, and Nebuchadnezzar was driven from human society. He ate grass like a cow, and he was drenched with the dew of heaven. He lived this way until his hair was as long as eagles’ feathers and his nails were like birds’ claws.
“After this time had passed, I, Nebuchadnezzar, looked up to heaven. My sanity returned, and I praised and worshiped the Most High and honored the one who lives forever.
His rule is everlasting,
and his kingdom is eternal.
All the people of the earth
are nothing compared to him.
He does as he pleases
among the angels of heaven
and among the people of the earth.
No one can stop him or say to him,
‘What do you mean by doing these things?’
“When my sanity returned to me, so did my honor and glory and kingdom. My advisers and nobles sought me out, and I was restored as head of my kingdom, with even greater honor than before.
“Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and glorify and honor the King of heaven. All his acts are just and true, and he is able to humble the proud.”
Pride goes before the Fall
Pride leads to disgrace,
but with humility comes wisdom.
The Lord detests the proud;
they will surely be punished.
Pride has been called “the cancer of the soul, “the beginning of all sin,” and “sin in its final form.” ~ Mary Fairchild
In the Bible, pride not only caused the ruin of individuals but also of nations. Israel became proud and forgot God. ~ Mary Fairchild

Wouldn’t you agree with me that when we are focused on a particular holiday like Christmas—it is hard to think about summer vacation?
The more you are wrapped up in something you have a harder time getting your head and heart focused on something different.
So it is stated here in
For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.
The best way to not get entangled with worldly values is to FEED our spirits by seeking after God through prayer, meditation on God’s Word, and be about the Masters business.
Then we will discover His will and His help in redirecting our lives and being a witness for others to redirect their lives.

Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;
You can’t be me. You must be like Christ.
My convictions may not be good enough for you!
