Righteousness

JOB
Job 1:8 “Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? No one else on earth is like him, a man of perfect integrity, who fears God and turns away from evil.””
JESUS
1 John 2:1 “My little children, I am writing you these things so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ the righteous one.”
2 Cor 5:21 “He made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
1 Peter 2:22 “He did not commit sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth;”

Worship through Suffering

JOB
Job 1:20-22 “Then Job stood up, tore his robe, and shaved his head. He fell to the ground and worshiped, saying: Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will leave this life. The Lord gives, and the Lord takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord. Throughout all this Job did not sin or blame God for anything.”
JESUS
Luke 23:47-48 “When the centurion saw what happened, he began to glorify God, saying, “This man really was righteous!” All the crowds that had gathered for this spectacle, when they saw what had taken place, went home, striking their chests.”

Bitterness vs Submission

JOB
Job 9:21 “Though I am blameless, I no longer care about myself; I renounce my life.”
Job 10:1 “I am disgusted with my life. I will give vent to my complaint and speak in the bitterness of my soul.”
JESUS
Phil 2:5-8 “Adopt the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus, who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God as something to be exploited. Instead he emptied himself by assuming the form of a servant, taking on the likeness of humanity. And when he had come as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death— even to death on a cross.”
