Today we are continuing in the spiritual Gifts in the way that makes the most since to me.
The way that makes the most since to me is from 1 Corinthians 12:4-6
1 Corinthians 12:4–6 CSB
Now there are different gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different ministries, but the same Lord. And there are different activities, but the same God works all of them in each person.
Different gifts (charismata)
Different ministries (Diakonion)
Different Activities/manifestations (energamaton)
Gifts flows into ministries which shows itself in different activities.
We have looked at the gift of prophecy and Service.
Prophecy is the divine enablement to proclaim God’s truth with power and clarity in a timely and culturally sensitive fashion for correction, repentance, or edification. Ability to reveal God’s word. -Chip Ingram
Service is the divine enablement to attach spiritual value to the accomplishment of physical tasks within the Body of Christ. Ability to demonstrate love by meeting practical needs that releases other Christians for direct spiritual ministry. -Chip Ingram
Romans 12:3–8 CSB
For by the grace given to me, I tell everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he should think. Instead, think sensibly, as God has distributed a measure of faith to each one. Now as we have many parts in one body, and all the parts do not have the same function, in the same way we who are many are one body in Christ and individually members of one another. According to the grace given to us, we have different gifts: If prophecy, use it according to the proportion of one’s faith; if service, use it in service; if teaching, in teaching; if exhorting, in exhortation; giving, with generosity; leading, with diligence; showing mercy, with cheerfulness.
Today we are going to talk about Teaching as a motivational gift. Dear to my heart because this is my spiritual gift.

The Gift of Teaching

It's the divine enablement to understand and give detailed explanation of biblical truth. It's the ability to search out and validate truth which has been presented.
-Chip Ingram
People with this. Gift are asking the question.
What is truth?
Where did you get that?
Why?
The classical Greek word here is to impart information in order to develop talent and potential.
It's the motivation and power to present with clarity, the truth of God's Word.
People with the gift of teaching few characteristics:
They love to do research
They love to study and they like to study down to the minutia, I mean, stuff that you may think isn’t that important. It matters to them. You know, the people that make all those long charts, if you're a pastor, the people that come up and ask questions, Like, Do you think Daniel was a eunuch? You may be thinking you know, I've stayed up nights on that one, but I really haven't come to conclusion.
When you have the gift of teaching, very content, very doctrine oriented. You love the research, you love to study. These are the kind of people too. When someone teaches if you have the gift of teaching your lights are going off like crazy. Is this true? What about this? Where to get that? What about this? What about this one? You know that word? I've heard it means. Could mean this and that word I mean it is like where's the research? You know show me the meat. You know, show me where you get that. Passage, verse and context.
But it isn’t just about study it is about teaching. Teaching is a supernatural gift of the Holy Spirit. One without this gift can understand the Bible as he hears or reads it, but he cannot explain it as one with the gift can. Although it can be developed, the spiritual gift of teaching is not something that can be learned or acquired, as with a college degree.
The church is edified through use of the gift of teaching as people listen to the Word of God and hear what it means and how to apply it to their own lives. God has raised up many with this gift to build people up in their faith and enable them to grow in all wisdom and knowledge (2 Peter 3:18).

Dangers of the gift of Teaching

The danger of this gift:
Concentrate too much on content to the exclusion of application.
Danger is boasting or getting proud about their knowledge, knowledge puffs up.
Another danger is being inattentive to the responsive students, See if you got the gift of teaching, the truth is so wonderful they just like they swim in the truth. The truth is so wonderful, they can get up and study and study and study and they can give it and like the back row can be asleep. So what I mean they're just missing out the truth and did anybody apply it? Who cares? I'm gonna go back and study you know that's why we need the body.
As we discus teaching we must mention False Teachers. These are people, some of them very convincing, that teaching things that are not from the Bible. That is why it is so important that you study to show yourself approved (2 Timothy 2:15). Test the Spirit 1 John 4.
1 John 4:1–4 CSB
1 Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see if they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 This is how you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3 but every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming; even now it is already in the world. 4 You are from God, little children, and you have conquered them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
1 Thessalonians 5:20–21 CSB
20 Don’t despise prophecies, 21 but test all things. Hold on to what is good.
I see lots of people wanting to teach because they have some knowledge they want to share doesn’t mean they are teachers, If you are discovering the scriptures in all its glory. It is amazing and you want to share it. That is wonderful. Sometimes, however, when a person wants to share it and doesn’t have people in there lives they are discipling, doesn’t have a small group they are working among, doesn’t have an outlet, they want to become teachers and can be good, but not always.
Often people want this position because they are looking for a place of power, authority, recondition or even just belonging.

How does Teaching Manifest?

The gift of Teaching manifest itself through different ways. It might be Pastor/Teacher, Evangelist, Prophet, Helping, Administration, tongues
Not every Teacher has the gift of teaching. Teachers come people with the gift of teaching, or prophecy, or service, or leadership, or encouragement.
I remind you:
James 3:1–2 CSB
1 Not many should become teachers, my brothers, because you know that we will receive a stricter judgment. 2 For we all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is mature, able also to control the whole body.

Is this you?

Teacher is this you? Is your gift
No that is OK. As where everyone can serve that may not be your gift. This is mine.
Prophecy, Service, teaching, Encouragement next week.
What is your gift?
