I. The Condition of Unbelief vs. 7-11

A. The writer from Psalm 95, a Psalm that David wrote about the wilderness wonderings, that talks about the heart condition of unbelief.
B. The word unbelief could be translated disbelief. “Unbelief implies a casual ignoring of something, but disbelief means a refusal to believe.
C. This is done from a person who has seen Yahweh work, but it is not good enough for them.

II. The Caution of Unbelief vs. 12-15

A. No one is promised tomorrow, so while you hear God’s voice act on it. Gen. 6:3
Genesis 6:3 NASB95
Then the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, because he also is flesh; nevertheless his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.”
Isaiah 55:6 NASB95
Seek the Lord while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near.
B. Just because you were born into a Christian family, doesn’t mean you are automatically saved. What and how people complain about reveal the condition of their heart.
C. The writer repeats his admonishment from vs. 6, because it is vitally important that we know that true believers do not walk away from Jesus!
D. Another quote from Ps. 95, shows that when we refuse to listen to Jesus, we harden our hearts.

III. The Consequence of Unbelief vs. 16-19

A. The Hebrew slaves hardened their hearts, and they could not enter the Promised Land. Meaning many died and went to hell.
B. For the saved, we miss out on all that God has for us when we walk by sight and not faith. (Charles Stanley’s move from FBC Miami to FBC Bartow, FL. “You can stay here, but you will wonder all your life, as to what I could have done with you”-Yahweh to Charles Stanley)
