LIVING A LIFE OF PURITY August 17, 2022 LIVING A LIFE OF PURITY The Call To Purity Among Disciples Of Jesus Is A Call Contrary To The Flow Of Modern Society And Culture True Disciples And Followers Of Christ Live Lives Of Purity LIVING A LIFE OF PURITY If Jesus Is Lord Of Our Lives We Cannot Continue In Sin 1 John 3:9 (NIV) — 9 No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God LIVING A LIFE OF PURITY A Follower Of Christ: Is Learning How To Live A Godly Lifestyle Takes The Right Steps To Separate Themselves From Sin Has The Spirit Living In Them Which Convicts Them Of Sin LIVING A LIFE OF PURITY How Does Someone Live A Life Of Purity? Where Do We Start? A Life Of Purity Starts With The Step Of Repentance LIVING A LIFE OF PURITY Repentance is: Turning Away From Sin And Turning To God To Turn Around -- To Make An About Face To Go In The Opposite Direction LIVING A LIFE OF PURITY Rom 6:19 (NIV) "I put this in human terms because you are weak in your natural selves. Just as you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to righteousness leading to holiness.“ A Change In Mind And Will The Starting Place Of A Life Of Purity LIVING A LIFE OF PURITY Repentance is the first step in the Christian life. Not only is repentance needed in conversions, but repentance is also an ongoing process in the Christian experience. There are times in our life as Christians when we also need to repent of that which does not please God and is not good for us. Wood, G. O. (2013). George Wood’s Sermons: New Testament (2 Co 7:2–16) LIVING A LIFE OF PURITY Repentance Is More Than Just Sorrow: People Can Be Sorry For Their Sins w/o Turning Away From Them True Repentance And Changed Lifestyle Always Go Together Acts 3:19 (NIV) "Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord," LIVING A LIFE OF PURITY We Need To Be Consciously Pursuing Holiness 1 Corinthians 6:18–20 (NIV) — 18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. 19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therfore honor God with your body.
