How Does Someone Live A Life Of Purity?
Where Do We Start?
A Life Of Purity Starts With The Step Of
Repentance
LIVING A LIFE OF PURITY
Repentance is:
Turning Away From Sin And Turning To
God
To Turn Around -- To Make An About Face
To Go In The Opposite Direction
LIVING A LIFE OF PURITY
Rom 6:19 (NIV)
"I put this in human terms
because you are weak in your natural selves. Just
as you used to offer the parts of your body in
slavery to impurity and to ever-increasing
wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to
righteousness leading to holiness.“
A Change In Mind And Will
The Starting Place Of A Life Of Purity
LIVING A LIFE OF PURITY
Repentance is the first step in the
Christian life.
Not only is repentance needed in conversions, but
repentance is also an ongoing process in the Christian
experience.
There are times in our life as Christians when we also
need to repent of that which does not please God and
is not good for us.
Wood, G. O. (2013). George Wood’s Sermons: New Testament (2 Co 7:2–16)
LIVING A LIFE OF PURITY
Repentance Is More Than Just Sorrow:
People Can Be Sorry For Their Sins w/o
Turning Away From Them
True Repentance And Changed Lifestyle
Always Go Together
Acts 3:19 (NIV) "Repent, then, and turn to God,
so that your sins may be wiped out, that times
of refreshing may come from the Lord,"
LIVING A LIFE OF PURITY
We Need To Be Consciously Pursuing Holiness
1 Corinthians 6:18–20 (NIV) — 18 Flee from sexual
immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his
body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. 19
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy
Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You
are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therfore
honor God with your body.
Now That You Have Repented And Been Changed:
• You Should No Longer Use Your Body For Sexual Sin
• You Should Honor God With Your Body
