The Law and Promise
Offspring
When you think of offspring you think of many, but in verse 16 he says it is referring to one offspring Jesus.
He is stating here that we all need Jesus.
God is talking to Abraham here stating he and his offspring are long gone.
Jesus will come as an everlasting covenant
Covenant - an agreement
Covenant in the Bible: Covenant is used over 100 times in the Bible.
It is a loving agreement that binds together (God & People, People & People)
Christianity is a new covenant in our lives
The of course you have marriage which in itself is a covenant to the person you love.
The Law
Remember last week I spoke about the law being Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and then reiterated in Deuteronomy.
This came 430 years later.
430 years after God to Abraham.
And it says here that the Law did not ratify God’s promise.
It wasn’t meant to change God’s Promise to all about Jesus Christ coming.
The Law to give people something to forgive their transgressions.
The Law Revealed 4 things:
Revealed God’s Perfect Holiness
Revealed our Sinfulness
Revealed God’s Patience
Kept God’s People Distinct for Jesus to come
Like I stated last week, Jesus Christ became the Law when He was on this earth and died for our sins, so we may believe in Him through Faith.
Which goes right into
Because of the Faith we have in Jesus we are are all sons and daughters of God.
I want to look a little deeper in to verses 28 and 29
There is no separation between anyone once we believe.
It doesn’t matter male, female, race, where you work, how much you give, how good of a life you have had, how bad you have been before.
WE ALL NEED JESUS!
