Genesis 1:27 NET
27 God created humankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them, male and female he created them.
What Does God Want
Question
How do you see God? Creator God who is a detached observer OR as a Father who is deeply committed to seeking you?
Most people I ask say they seem him as a Father, but their lives and actions seem to demonstrate that they actually seem him more as a detached observer who cares very little about them or their daily lives.
God is seeking us.
They very fact that you are here this morning is not coincidental, but evidence to the fact that the Father is actively seeking you.
Ezekiel 34:11 NET
11 “ ‘For this is what the sovereign Lord says: Look, I myself will search for my sheep and seek them out.
Luke 19:10 NET
10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
Why?
because as the Author says “it’s his nature to seek us. He’s committed to us.”
If you don’t take anything else from todays discussion, take this thought. God is committed to seeking you out and will create opportunities for you to know him not just as God but mostly as Dad.
We are created On Purpose and For a Purpose.
Exodus 9:16 NET
16 But for this purpose I have caused you to stand: to show you my strength, and so that my name may be declared in all the earth.
Romans 8:28 NET
28 And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose,
”We are by nature purposeful, not purposeless, beings.
Even when we do something unpleasant it’s with the thought that it’ll be good for us in some way.”
Why else would you be here Fasting
Question
Do you know what it feels like when you think you don’t have a purpose?
Have you every felt like you were operating in something that just isn’t your true purpose?

Why does God do the things he does?
God does what he does to enjoy what he’s done.
“God didn’t create humanity because he lacked something. He wasn’t lonely, as though he was incomplete or needed company. God needs nothing because . . . well . . . he’s God.
He created things to enjoy the work of his own hands, so to speak. And the things he cares about most are those he made to be like him, “in his own image” as the Bible says (Gen 1:26). That would be you and me.”
God doesn’t do things randomly but does things for a purpose
When he created us we were not created to fill a part of him that was missing. He was not deficient.
“Given the fact that he didn’t need us but still made us, there’s only one rational explanation for why he created us.
God wanted us to exist in order to enjoy us (and to have us enjoy him in return)”
So a big part of our purpose is to bring enjoyment to the heart of our Father and for us to enjoy Him.
Are you effectively operating in this purpose? If not, how do you think you would feel if you truly were?
God is Father
We struggle with the Father image because nothing is more critical for a child and nothing has been more attacked and distorted than fatherhood.
Father wounds have a major impact on us as individuals and as a society
8 common issues associated with a Father Wound
Low Self Esteem or Confidence / Anxiety / Depression
Anger and Rage / Boundaries Issues
Too Rigid - Fear of being influenced or controlled
Too Lose - People Pleasing, Never Saying No Constantly looking for Validation.
Choosing emotionally Unavailable People for Relationships
We gravitate to what is known, because at least we know what to expect from that.
Parenting - repeating legacy or rejecting some sound parenting for fear of repeating legacy
Job 38:4–7 NET
4 “Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you possess understanding! 5 Who set its measurements—if you know— or who stretched a measuring line across it? 6 On what were its bases set, or who laid its cornerstone— 7 when the morning stars sang in chorus, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
Since sons were already existent, we can be sure we weren’t created to heal some loneliness in God.
So, God desired a human family and we were originally designed to be in His presence alongside and in conjunction with his Supernatural family.
Our Spiritual Siblings exist and they are VERY active in the realm to which they belong, a Realm just outside of our sight, but One that interacts with our realm often and has significant influence in our lives.
Genesis 1:26 NET
26 Then God said, “Let us make humankind in our image, after our likeness, so they may rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move on the earth.”

Imagers of God
Genesis 1:27 NET
27 God created humankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them, male and female he created them.
Nouns or Verbs
Just like images erected in regions where a mighty King rules but does not reside, we are those monuments to him, Living monuments and testimonies of his greatness.
Irenaeus
“The Glory of God is Man fully alive!”
We were created On Purpose and For a Purpose.
“He made us to be like him so we could participate with him as co-rulers and co-caretakers in his new world. Imaging God is an important concept for several reasons. It gives each of us a secure, profound identity.
Imaging God also gives us purpose. We have a mission. Every person, no matter how small or weak or short-lived has some role to play in someone else’s life. Every task we set our mind to that honors God and our fellow imagers becomes a spiritual calling.”
“What does God want? He wants you. He wants a family. He wants co-workers. He wants you to know who you are and why your life has value to him.”
