Intro:

A little bit about me, etc. As Executive pastor.....

I have been reading a book called the Intentional Father. Written by a pastor for dads of boys primarily, (not because these principles only apply to dads and boys, but his burden was to break some of the cycle that is happening in his pastoral context with absent dad’s raising future absent dads.

5 categories or parents:

irresponsible fathers

ignorant fathers

inconsistent fathers

involved fathers

intentional fathers

Some of these are chair dads....some of them are at every game and never miss anything. But very few are intentional....

Our goal as fathers is to help our sons discover who God has made and called them to be. We are not to make them in our own image but to help them along the path of grace so that they are renewed in the image of their Creator. This will bring them confidence and vision to move forward. (195)
