THE PERFECT SPOT - GEN 50:16-21

INTRO: My call to Beth Eden.
We often focus where we want to Serve; how we will serve; and what God desires for us in our giftedness.
“That’s not my ministry; calling; I don’t think so.”
“Growth is painful. Change is painful. BUT nothing is as painful as being stuck in a place you don’t belong.”
What we’ve forgotten is God is God. He knows the plans for us.
He made us, not we ourselves.
He is the author and finisher of our faith.
Because we belong to Him…CHOSEN; Because He is our Lord…SOVEREIGN...
We submit to the position He has designated for us to serve…temporarily or long-term. The Perfect Spot.
In our Bible passage today we have the Story of Joseph. BACKGROUND - As a child god revealed through dreams Joseph’s destiny to rule, AND God placed Joseph in the PERFECT SPOT in order for Joseph to fulfill God’s plan.
What is the PERFECT SPOT?
The PERFECT SPOT is where God’s Plan is Fulfilled In Your Life.
What Is God’s Plan for My Life?
RESCUE THE LOST; ENCOURAGE THE WEAK; PROVIDE SAFETY FOR THE VULNERABLE.
In the PIT - Sometimes God places us in the PIT to protect us from certain place of surrender (control); full reliance on God.
It’s a good spot but not the PERFECT SPOT.
In POTIPHAR”S house - Sometimes God elevates us to helps us recover our faith in His Promise. place of leadership; full reliance on God.
It’s a good spot but not the PERFECT SPOT.
In the PRISON - Sometimes God places us in PRISON to test us. place of preparation/discipline preparation; Full reliance on God.
It’s a good spot but not the PERFECT SPOT.
In the PALACE…That was the PERFECT SPOT. PERFECT for what? God gets us to the PERFECT SPOT after we surrender our self-control; diligent in leadership; submit to authority...
rescuing the lost; encouraging the weak; providing safety to the vulnerable

RESCUE THE LOST

Joseph’s brothers were lost. They devised schemes of murder; involved themselves in immoral acts; they needed to return to God.
Like Joseph, you are still a servant of God, you are not our own; God has spared your life so that YOU can rescue the lost, the perishing.

ENCOURAGE THE WEAK

Jacob, aka Israel, and his descendants were suffering from the famine. They were weak and needed to be encouraged.
Like Joseph, YOU were once despised by family, friends, co-workers, but God has given you strength an anointing so YOU can ENCOURAGE THE WEAK.

PROVIDE SAFETY TO THE VULNERABLE

The descendants of Joseph’s brothers are not names but they were protected in Goshen.
Like Joseph, God has you in the PERFECT SPOT to provide SAFETY TO THE VULNERABLE. Who are the vulnerable? POOR WORKERS; ORPHANS; ELDERLY; THOSE SEEKING GUIDANCE.
CLOSE: YOU are in the PERFECT SPOT.
Whether the PIT, POTIPHARS; PRISON Or the PALACE - YOU are where God has placed you to glorify Him.
