Ruth 1:16–18 KJV (WS)
And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God: Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the Lord do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me. When she saw that she was stedfastly minded to go with her, then she left speaking unto her.
Introduction: Have you ever wandered what happens when a sinner comes to God.
Famine in Bethhalemjudea (bread)
‘Jesus is the bread that came down.
Sin always cause a spiritual famine.
Man left the garden looking for greener pastures, but you never find one.
After what Ruth trusted in die, (Elmelech)God is King, (Mahlon)sickly, (Chiron)waste away.
Ruth heard that God had visited her people, the bread that sustains and keep us had come back.
‘Ruth returns to God
Is that it
Did God leave us in the dark
God paints a beautiful picture of the walk of a believer after salvation.
I. RUTH WAS ACTIVE IN SERVICE
“LET ME NOW GO TO THE FIELD”
Ruth 2:2 KJV (WS)
And Ruth the Moabitess said unto Naomi, Let me now go to the field, and glean ears of corn after him in whose sight I shall find grace. And she said unto her, Go, my daughter.
The Church has too many “sleeping” ones.
We hear much these days of Christian action.
It is much needed, when it is the right kind.
God never goes to the lazy or the idle when He needs men and women for His service.
When God wants a worker He calls a worker.
The Mormons are in the field.
The jehovah witnesses are in the field.
Where’s God’s Church?
Say not…
II. RUTH WAS RELIABLE IN SERVICE:
“GO NOT TO GLEAN IN ANOTHER FIELD”
Ruth 2:8 KJV (WS)
Then said Boaz unto Ruth, Hearest thou not, my daughter? Go not to glean in another field, neither go from hence, but abide here fast by my maidens:
“So she kept fast by the maidens of Boaz to glean unto the end of barley harvest and of wheat harvest and dwelt with her mother-in-law” (v. 23).
Ruth stayed where she was placed.
III. RUTH WAS HUMBLE IN SERVICE
Ruth 2:10 KJV (WS)
Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said unto him, Why have I found grace in thine eyes, that thou shouldest take knowledge of me, seeing I am a stranger?
IV. RUTH WAS SEPARATED IN SERVICE
Ruth 2:11 KJV (WS)
And Boaz answered and said unto her, It hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband: and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore.
V. RUTH WAS REWARDED IN SERVICE
Ruth 2:12 KJV (WS)
The Lord recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.
VI. RUTH WAS TRUSTFUL IN SERVICE
Ruth 2:12 KJV (WS)
The Lord recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.
When we trust God for the outcome of our service, we have peace and restfulness in service.
VII. RUTH WAS SATISFIED IN SERVICE
“… SHE DID EAT AND WAS SUFFICED”
Ruth 2:14 KJV (WS)
And Boaz said unto her, At mealtime come thou hither, and eat of the bread, and dip thy morsel in the vinegar. And she sat beside the reapers: and he reached her parched corn, and she did eat, and was sufficed, and left.
Christ is the only one who can satisfy completely.
He is the only one who can sustain us in service, and it is as we are taken up with Him, looking unto Him.
