1 Corinthians 1:18 (KJV 1900)
18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
The preaching of the cross is something unique in comparison to everything else we have in the world. It is commanded by God, founded in the word of God, and funded by the Spirit of God.
Without the preaching of the cross we wold be of all men most miserable.
With out the preaching of the cross church is not necessary.
Without the preaching of the cross YOLO truly is a reasonable way to live.
To them that parish it is foolishness. (silly or absurd)
Notice it does not say if you think its foolish you will perish, but it uses a category of people to explain who would think the preaching of the cross is foolish.
The category he uses are the damned souls on their way to hell. The atheist who says there is no God.
If we willingly choose to align our selves with whom the Bible calls fools, we will in turn be foolish.
But than it makes another distinction it says in verse 18-19

19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
