I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
Joshua 24:15 KJV (WS)
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

The High Cost Of Making The Wrong Choice
INTRODUCTION:
Man is a free moral agent.
God gave him the power of choice.
His choice may be right or wrong, good or bad.
1. The wrong choice in business results in decline; many times failure… (Look around at the business that no longer exist, churches that have close their doors because of a choice they made 1 1/2 years ago).
2. In marriage, unhappy or broken homes… (Why?)
3. In war—loss of life and defeat…
4. These are heavy penalties but nothing compared to the wrong spiritual choice…
“The grave claims the doctors mistake, but hell claims the preacher.”
I. THE RICH YOUNG RULER’S CHOICE
Matthew 19:16 KJV (WS)
And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
Matthew 19:22 KJV (WS)
But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
1. He was an outstanding young man…
2. He made an effort to obtain salvation…
3. The price was too great…
a. Complete surrender…
b. No other gods…
4. Turning away from Christ is life’s saddest mistake…
II. THE CHOICE OF THE PEOPLE AT JESUS’ TRIAL
Matthew 27:21–22 KJV (WS)
The governor answered and said unto them, Whether of the twain will ye that I release unto you? They said, Barabbas. Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.
1. Custom to release a prisoner…
2. They chose Barabbas, v. 21…
3. They chose crucifixion for Christ, v. 22…
4. Think of their penalty…
a. Jerusalem destroyed…
b. A people without a country…
c. Persecuted by all nations…
d. Rejected Christ and destroyed their souls…
III. THE CHOICE OF FELIX
Acts 24:24–25 KJV (WS)
And after certain days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, which was a Jewess, he sent for Paul, and heard him concerning the faith in Christ. And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.
1. Paul brought the gospel to him…
2. The choice was his to make, for or against salvation…
3. He chose a more convenient time…
No record of another opportunity…
IV. AGRIPPA ALMOST MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE
Acts 26:28 KJV (WS)
Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.
1. He was moved by the gospel…
2. Text, Deut. 30:19
Deuteronomy 30:19 KJV (WS)
I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
Joshua 24:15 KJV (WS)
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
3. The choice is yours—any decision other than Christ is a bad choice.
