Children’s Talk 5min
Hi kids! Today I want to speak about the bible to you. Actually, I want to talk to you every week about the bible and my hope is that you will read it for yourselves because it does not matter how old you are you should know the bible. If you can’t read then get someone to read it to you. There are many reasons to read the bible and I know that you will all need help with this. In fact, everyone here needs help with this and so I am also going to be talking to the adults about this in my message today. We should know the Bible because it is God’s Word to us. He wants us to read and know it. It is His message to you and me. God wants us to know Him and what He wants, and He wants to show you His love and tips for life even when you are young. The bible asks and answers a question in:
9 How can a young person live a clean life?
By carefully reading the map of your Word.
I am going to help you along with your family and this fellowship how to navigate the map of the bible and your life. It will be important to listen because we will want to learn. It will help us to avoid mistakes in the future.
I heard a story about a group of children going on a camping holiday in America. At the beginning they were told what to do if there was danger especially if they were to meet a bear. But the children were not really listening. A couple of days later they were walking along a path and in the distance they could see the path was blocked by a bear. It was very dangerous. No one knew what to do! They had been told but what to do - but they could not remember. It was made harder because in America they have two kinds of bear - a brown one and a black one. But this one was black with parts that were brown. You have to do different things with different bears. Should they run? Lay down? Shout? Be quiet? Well, the noise level went through the roof because they were all panicking - and as it happens it was the right thing to do so the bear decided he was not interested and wandered off but do you think they ever forgot the lesson when they were told it again later on. It is important for us to learn now from the bible what to do so that when things happen in our lives - there will be less panic and right choices can be made. If that bear had been a brown one they were would have been in serious trouble. So, what should you do? Read the bible and who knows at next year’s Easter quiz you will know at least as much about the bible as you know about cartoons and Harry Potter.
