We are parched
God offers us the kind of thirst-quenching, soul refreshment we can find no place else
We drink from the living water that has no comparative experience
But we may turn aside and look to have our thirst gratified elsewhere
But it’s silly
We look for satisfaction in things that, at best, satisfy only temporarily
Wealth, sex, strength, prestige, material goods
When the way to abundant life is to receive what Jesus freely offers to his children
We were made!
For trust in
For reliance upon
For faith in
For finding refreshment through
For knowing salvation in...
We remember what God has done.
We give thanks for our blessings
We remain faithful to the God who saved us
Isaiah 55:1–3 (NRSV)
Ho, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and you that have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food.
Incline your ear, and come to me; listen, so that you may live...
Parched?
Find the living water.
