THE DESIRE OF THE HEART
THE DESIRE OF THE HEART
INTRODUCTION:
One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after;
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.
Solomon Desire
And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king: Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.
The conditions of our hearts:
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore. And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow; And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up: Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them: But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
Importance of the heart:
The lips of the wise disperse knowledge:
But the heart of the foolish doeth not so.
Keep thy heart with all diligence;
For out of it are the issues of life.
A man’s heart deviseth his way:
But the Lord directeth his steps.
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Delight thyself also in the Lord;
And he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
