Intro

Each of us are lakes of water

Does the water flow out of us?

do let the water sit and become stagnant

a pond of murky clogged up decay or a clean blue pond with flowing waters

Crystal lake

letting ourselves diminish and like the lake have such beauty in our transparency

paradoxically the willingess not to be visible makes more beautiful that ever

we humble or proud?

pour out or clog up?

What is humility? What mean to be humble

connection to Gospel

[learn from him] not

lying about your worth

God emptied self

didn’t deny he was God

irony

being whimpy

didnt stand up for himself for a greater good

but God embraced his cross and spat out narcotics

said set face like flintstone..a solid rock

being whimpy typically means valuing avoiding pain more than God

putting self down

let self be mocked

but not out of a self loathing but for all humanity

Despair is a most dangerous sin

separates the sorrow of St. Peter from Judas

perhaps easier: what is pride?

pride (as a sin): over concern of self

self-congradulation, defensiveness, or parading on high even where you shouldn’t

piling up all your self in yourself

clogged up near bursting

humility is not over valuing (EVEN WHERE YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT)

yes, disregarding what deserve for greater good

love of rights (self) can be excessive

Yes, passively accepting unjust injuries for greater good

love of your dignity (self) can be excessive

Yes, means recognizing your faults

love of your perfection (self) can be excessive

humility is allowing water to flow out

the willingness to pour self out

pride is the clogging up into self, the keeping self to self, becoming a stagnant swampy pond puffed up with infection, leeches, and parasites. The miasmic smell of sewage permeating the air.

that the only rule for life is what u chose

no emptying to others

‘i did things my way’ the ‘its my truth’ the ‘my way or the highway’

Examples of Humility

Pass up an award for someone else/ working behind scenes w/o needing recognition

Going to Confession

Praying

no relying on producing some effect by our effort

wasting time w/ God

here in deepest prayer we empty self even of thought into radical silence

Let it Flow out, we get supply AND clean

learn from him, humble of heart

becomes a wellspring

water can only get clogged up, but more pour more u get

the fresh water is better than the stuff u pour out

Even in this life, but not as the world gives

not guarantee of any earthly prosperity, but heavenly and even the occasional taste of it on earth

Secret of humility is this:

he who seeks his life loses it, who loses for him seeks

Flow into the Right things

So obviously need to flow into right things

many sacrifice in service to evil

greatest earthly atrocities... how many gave up their lives for it

pouring must be into God

otherwise like a tsunami which crushes others and sucks back all the filth and debris back into yourself when its done

or like the chatahoochee flowing, but with filthy sediment

When don’t know your relative worth, to treat self as lower is to more greatly respect the host.

ASSUMING vs unassuming!!!

etymology of assuming: to lift up (to exalt)

so humility is to not take up/lift up

only if unassuming

To pour out self to another is abasement before the beloved.

forced to do this for someone/thing the question is who/what not if you are

Excessive self-love of one’s excellence (pride)

wishes not to be subjected (radical autonomy)
