Two Days of Judgement
Judgement seat of Christ
2 Cor.5:10
Rev. 20:5, 11-15
Pretenders: those who reject Jesus as savior and Lord.
there won’t be jury, no defense attorney, a sentence, but no appeal.
No one will be able to defend himself or accuse God of unrighteousness.
The Judgement Seat of Christ - occurs more than 1,000 years before the Great White Throne Judgement.
The first judgement occurs immediately after the Rapture of the church to heaven.
The purpose of tis judgement is not to pronounce condemnation.
No one judged at this court will be condemned, for all will be followers of Christ who have submitted their lives to Him.
The purpose of this judgement is for Christ to assess every believer’s earthly works to determine what rewards are to be received.
“We must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he or she has done, whether good or bad.
(2 Cor.
5:10)
The word for judgement seat is bema, translated as throne, tribunal, platform, or raised place.
Bema was a place of authority which one made announcements, declarations, speeches, or judgments.
Paul uses the word in reference to the bema seat in an Olympic arena.
The Judge is God.
Eccl.12:14
John 5: 22,27
The Judged
Everyone who has accepted Christ as their personal Savior, from the time of Pentecost
until the Rapture, will give an account of themselves before the Lord.
No unsaved person will appear at the judgement seat of Christ.
The Judgement
Judgement for believers occurred at the cross of Calvary.
Jesus Christ has borne our judgement, and there need not be any examination to see whether a child of God is permitted into glory, because the presence of the Holy Spirit in that believer is the believer’s right to enter in without judgement or examination.
Some people believe that the judgement seat of Christ is for the purpose of giving an account of all the sins a believer commits after he becomes a believer.
But the Scriptures make this impossible:
All our sins were future when Jesus died for them.
He paid the penalty at the cross for all the sins I would ever commit.
Illus.
fire would sweep the plains so men would burn the designated area around them.
Then they would stand in the burned area and be safe from the threatening wild fire.
Even as the rush of fire surged around them there was no fear, because fire had already passed over the place where they stood.
When the judgement of God comes to sweep people into hell for eternity, one spot will be safe.
Nearly 2 thousand years ago the wrath of God was poured out on Calvary.
There, the Son of God took the wrath that should have fallen on us.
Now we take our stand by the cross, where we are safe for time and eternity.
The judgement has fallen and it never need fall again.
