What comes to mind when you think of the devil or satan? Do you think of a red creature with horns and a pointy tail?
Do ever think of where he came from?
Did God create Him? If so, why?
Let’s talk about it!
11 The word of the Lord came to me: 12 “Son of man, lament for the king of Tyre and say to him: This is what the Lord God says:
You were the seal of perfection,
full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.
13 You were in Eden, the garden of God.
Every kind of precious stone covered you:
carnelian, topaz, and diamond,
beryl, onyx, and jasper,
sapphire, turquoise and emerald.
Your mountings and settings were crafted in gold;
they were prepared on the day you were created.
14 You were an anointed guardian cherub,
for I had appointed you.
You were on the holy mountain of God;
you walked among the fiery stones.
15 From the day you were created
you were blameless in your ways
until wickedness was found in you.
16 Through the abundance of your trade,
you were filled with violence, and you sinned.
So I expelled you in disgrace
from the mountain of God,
and banished you, guardian cherub,
from among the fiery stones.
17 Your heart became proud because of your beauty;
For the sake of your splendor
you corrupted your wisdom.
So I threw you down to the earth;
I made you a spectacle before kings.
18 You profaned your sanctuaries
by the magnitude of your iniquities
in your dishonest trade.
So I made fire come from within you,
and it consumed you.
I reduced you to ashes on the ground
in the sight of everyone watching you.
19 All those who know you among the nations
are appalled at you.
You have become an object of horror
and will never exist again.”
God says this individual was in the garden of Eden, which was thousands of years prior.
This individual was said to be perfect in beauty, created with numerous precious stones.
God identifies this individual as a cherub, which is a specific class of angels, and was said to be on God’s mountain.
God said this individual was blameless, UNTIL wickedness was found within them.
This individual trafficked their wickedness to those around them, in the supernatural realm or dimension.
They became proud, conceited, because of the beauty that God had given them.
It was for their beauty that they corrupted themselves.
So this angel, this cherub is cast out of God’s mountain, the highest supernatural dimension one can experience, because they became proud, vain, conceited about their appearance.
But what was it about this angels pride that got it into trouble?
12 Shining morning star,
how you have fallen from the heavens!
You destroyer of nations,
you have been cut down to the ground.
13 You said to yourself:
“I will ascend to the heavens;
I will set up my throne
above the stars of God.
I will sit on the mount of the gods’ assembly,
in the remotest parts of the North.
14 I will ascend above the highest clouds;
I will make myself like the Most High.”
15 But you will be brought down to Sheol
into the deepest regions of the Pit.
This fallen angel desired to make himself equal to his Creator, and sought to do so by getting as many other angels as he could on his side to rebel and take over.
God told us through Ezekiel that this angel was in the garden of Eden, but where?
Adam was told by God to protect and tend to the garden, but from what?
15 The Lord God took the man and placed him in the garden of Eden to work it and watch over it. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree of the garden, 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for on the day you eat from it, you will certainly die.”
We find out in the next chapter as God has now created Eve and another being compromises the first humans through her:
1 Now the serpent was the most cunning of all the wild animals that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You can’t eat from any tree in the garden’?”
2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit from the trees in the garden. 3 But about the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden, God said, ‘You must not eat it or touch it, or you will die.’ ”
4 “No! You will not die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “In fact, God knows that when you eat it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6 Then the woman saw that the tree was good for food and delightful to look at, and that it was desirable for obtaining wisdom. So she took some of its fruit and ate it; she also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made loincloths for themselves.
So God said that the cherub was in the Garden of Eden and that he corrupted himself because of his beauty, he became vain, conceited.
He first started his rebellion in heaven to get other angels to rebel with him, then he took it to earth to do the same, but something even more devious, something he could not do in the supernatural dimension, take it over.
1 A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of 12 stars on her head. 2 She was pregnant and cried out in labor and agony as she was about to give birth. 3 Then another sign appeared in heaven: There was a great fiery red dragon having seven heads and 10 horns, and on his heads were seven diadems. 4 His tail swept away a third of the stars in heaven and hurled them to the earth. And the dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she did give birth he might devour her child.
7 Then war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon. The dragon and his angels also fought, 8 but he could not prevail, and there was no place for them in heaven any longer. 9 So the great dragon was thrown out—the ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, the one who deceives the whole world. He was thrown to earth, and his angels with him.
As he was cast down to the earth, he became the god of this world, the god of this age.
God tells us that he has deceived the whole world, which is why He came as Jesus Christ, that by His Supernatural Presence, His Spirit in His believers and disciples, those who are willing could be freed from the deception and begin to become who they were created to be.
1 Therefore, since we have this ministry because we were shown mercy, we do not give up. 2 Instead, we have renounced shameful secret things, not walking in deceit or distorting God’s message, but commending ourselves to every person’s conscience in God’s sight by an open display of the truth. 3 But if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. 4 In their case, the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelievers so they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 5 For we are not proclaiming ourselves but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your slaves because of Jesus. 6 For God who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of God’s glory in the face of Jesus Christ.
This is why satan could offer Jesus the world after He is baptized and God’s Spirit reveals Himself visibly to show that Jesus is His Foretold and Promised King that will one day Govern this world the way it was meant to be.
21 When all the people were baptized, Jesus also was baptized. As He was praying, heaven opened, 22 and the Holy Spirit descended on Him in a physical appearance like a dove. And a voice came from heaven:
You are My beloved Son.
I take delight in You!
1 Then Jesus returned from the Jordan, full of the Holy Spirit, and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness 2 for 40 days to be tempted by the Devil. He ate nothing during those days, and when they were over, He was hungry.
5 So he took Him up and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 The Devil said to Him, “I will give You their splendor and all this authority, because it has been given over to me, and I can give it to anyone I want. 7 If You, then, will worship me, all will be Yours.”
8 And Jesus answered him, “It is written:
Worship the Lord your God,
and serve Him only.”
This is why so many religions can get along, because they all have the same origin, the same groups of supernatural beings that work together to control mankind.
But this is what sets Judaism and Biblical Christianity apart in that we are devoted to only our Creator, not the angels posing as gods to the nations of the world.
It is our Creator Who reveals Himself to us through the messengers that He sends us, first by word usually, and then experientially by His Supernatural Presence as The Holy Spirit.
Repentance is the first step to connecting with Jesus Christ, our Creator Who became Human.
