Our Love for Others Involves A Desire for Restoration
Our Love for Others Involves A Desire for Restoration
Paul says let those who are spiritual do the restoration.
Those who reside in v.26 find sinful pleasure in the display of others sin.
It makes them feel better about themselves.
It feeds their sense of self-righteousness.
They feel as though they couldn’t do the same thing.
They’re better than that, they tell themselves.
Hence, they confront with harshness and prideful resentment...
Rather than humble gentleness.
Those who are walking in the Spirit love others as they love self.
They can approach others with gentleness and humility...
Because they are aware of the many times they’ve slipped into sin.
They are aware of their absolute need of Christ’s forgiveness.
They know of their deep dependence on the Spirit to do what God delights in.

Bearing is Building
Bearing is Building
This builds relationships through self-sacrificing love.
Restoring a brother is taking on their burden and making it your own.
It is a willingness to take a risk for the good of your brother/sister in Christ.
Our natural inclination is...
I’m not getting involved...
It will just be grief and heartache.
The Spirit of God calls us to love our neighbor as our self.
