Exodus 25:1–9 (NIV)
1 The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Tell the Israelites to bring me an offering. You are to receive the offering for me from everyone whose heart prompts them to give. 3 These are the offerings you are to receive from them: gold, silver and bronze; 4 blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen; goat hair; 5 ram skins dyed red and another type of durable leather; acacia wood; 6 olive oil for the light; spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense; 7 and onyx stones and other gems to be mounted on the ephod and breastpiece. 8 “Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them. 9 Make this tabernacle and all its furnishings exactly like the pattern I will show you.

What we give we give for the house of the Lord.
Building a sanctuary for the Lord
Giving is for the building of the sanctuary. When we give to God what he ask he takes it from this place and adds it to a holy place. Holy bank account. For His kingdom.
Pray for offering…collect and transition.
Speak of last weeks Next Gen Weekend!
1 Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest.
2 He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all God’s house.
3 Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself.
4 For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything.
5 “Moses was faithful as a servant in all God’s house,” bearing witness to what would be spoken by God in the future.
6 But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory.
7 So, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you hear his voice,
8 do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the wilderness,
9 where your ancestors tested and tried me, though for forty years they saw what I did.
10 That is why I was angry with that generation; I said, ‘Their hearts are always going astray, and they have not known my ways.’
11 So I declared on oath in my anger, ‘They shall never enter my rest.’ ”
2 He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all God’s house.
we know this book is written written first to the 2nd century church, i know ive said that enought right,,,but also we have to keep in our minds that this letter was written to primarily messianic jews.
Jews who found thier way of salvation through Christ. as they should and as the only way true salvation comes.
SO what this means for you and i this morning is we cant read the book of hebrews without knowing the scriptural text it is also referring too.
The jewish community actually did and still does pride themselfs with intellectual knowledge. not pop culture. not how to fix it. But real information. Historical evidences throught generations. Not just of the bible but of political parties and different persons of interest.
Finacial reports and how a scientist got to a thesis. Jews pride their household on creating an atmosphere of learning and teaching is of the highest regard in the jewish community.
So we must have some biblcal knowledge of What the end of versus three is saying. moses was faithful in all God’s house how and what does this mean.
Lets go back to tthe passsage i read this morning and break down three words to help us identify the application of this scripture.
8 “Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them.
9 Make this tabernacle and all its furnishings exactly like the pattern I will show you.
Sanctuary
is a place set apart: a holy place
a place like no other place, or a building like no other.
A place dedicated to God, it is also a place of covenant. a place of promise.
God said to build me a sanctuary.
Its different then your home, its different then your office, its a holy place.
Tabernacle
is a place of dwelling: a habitital place
a place of covering
it is a place where God and His people meet together
a place of fellowship and communion.
a place of meeting
Sanctuary and tabernacle
Sanctuary talks about the Holiness of a place and the tabernacle talks about the fellowship that goes on in the place.
Both describing essentially the same thing
The Tabernacle that the Children of Israel built in the wilderness was movable....It was a moveable tent
In the tabernacle there were three main areas.
The outer court
the inner court- tabneracle of meetings
The Holy of Holies
DIfferent aspects of service took place.
what this means is that
In the tabernacle different activities took place there.
The tabernacle was a place of worship, but also fellowship.
Now there is another word i think we could add to this passage and help us reach a better understanding today of our scriptures and where i see God is taking us.
How many of yall know were expecting something in the Holy of Holies this morning?
The third word we need to be familiar with we see when israel gets into the promise land. When they begin to settle down and really get roots in a place
they built a permanent structure it was the temple.
isnt it interesting God designed it to become habit before it became easy?
let me say it another way. Isnt it interesting that God has His people wondering in the desert place. A dry and weary land. A land not of provision and success. but a place of hardship of pressing forward.
a place of barely making it. Yet they had to continue to set up and tear down this tent of meeting. This tabernacle.
You know we can meet GOd in our backyard and others meet God at the bottom of downhill spiral. Others meet God at the happiest moments of thier Lifes.
We are atlaking about the meeting place of GOd but its not the only place its just a special place.
Like when you take your wife out for dinner.
Before we can get that building we have to get comfrotable with the uncomfortbale.
Because a time has come for israel and a time will come for “this homeless church in columbia’ that God will say here we are go ahead and settle your feet in.
When israel God settled in they had what we know as the temple.
So what DOES a house of the Lord look like?
So what DOES a house of the Lord look like?
How do we know we hold a household for of God?
How do we know we are dwelling in God’s house??
1. A house that Seeks
1. A house that Seeks
1 You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.
2 I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory.
David here gives us a better understnading of the house of the Lord in Psalm 23.....
6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Being in Gods presense meant everything to david since he shared such a close relationship with the Lord david could picture himself as a permanent resident in God’s house basking in His constant goodness, love, and care every day.
And becasuse of death held the promise of eternal life in God’s heavenly kingdom david looked forward to the intimate and enver ending fellowship of dwelling in the house of the Lord forever.
now we see this phrase to dwell in the house of the Lord.
dwell we know is to what....inhabit or live in.
house of the Lord is often referring to what?
the tabernacle, the temple, or just simply a place of worship.
A few months ago i talked about how Ignite will be this place of Authentic worship. Its so important that we sincerly worship.
Anyone can sing a good song. Anyone can round up a bunch of people and get excited!
But those whom God prompts will have sincere hearts to worship.
here in psalms 23 6 we see this dwelling place is a dwelling house specifically.
we have to understand church that the presesne of God isnt a visituation right from our father.
No the presence of God is the believers true home.
1 As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.
2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?
3 My tears have been my food day and night, while people say to me all day long, “Where is your God?”
4 These things I remember as I pour out my soul: how I used to go to the house of God under the protection of the Mighty One with shouts of joy and praise among the festive throng.
1 How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord Almighty!
2 My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.
3 Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young— a place near your altar, Lord Almighty, my King and my God.
4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you.
2. A house God meets at
2. A house God meets at
Lev 8 1-5
1 The Lord said to Moses,
2 “Bring Aaron and his sons, their garments, the anointing oil, the bull for the sin offering, the two rams and the basket containing bread made without yeast,
3 and gather the entire assembly at the entrance to the tent of meeting.”
4 Moses did as the Lord commanded him, and the assembly gathered at the entrance to the tent of meeting.
5 Moses said to the assembly, “This is what the Lord has commanded to be done.”
See the thing about a pricked heart isnt that God chooses some and not all.
(scripture of God calls all)
theres no one left out.
Its remarkable when we realize
“wait this is what my heart has been longing for”
“ wait this Jesus has completely satisfied my soul”
one of my current favorit worship songs is Satisfy by upperoom.
4 Blessed are those you choose and bring near to live in your courts! We are filled with the good things of your house, of your holy temple.
We could read Psalm 27 4
4 One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.
what did it take? Why does God show up.
22 After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.’
14 But now your kingdom will not endure; the Lord has sought out a man after his own heart and appointed him ruler of his people, because you have not kept the Lord’s command.”
3. A house that Fellowships
3. A house that Fellowships
46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,
47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
4. A house God Teaches
4. A house God Teaches
45 When Jesus entered the temple courts, he began to drive out those who were selling.
46 “It is written,” he said to them, “ ‘My house will be a house of prayer’; but you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’”
47 Every day he was teaching at the temple. But the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the leaders among the people were trying to kill him.
48 Yet they could not find any way to do it, because all the people hung on his words.
while preaching on Psalm 23 a
Charles Spurgeon said
“ While i am here I will be a child aloone with my God the whole world will be His house to me: and when i ascend unto the upper chamber I shall not change my company, nor even change the house. I shall only go to dwell in the upper story of the house of the Lord forever.
Just as moses had to, David did for sure, paul was adement about We too must understand to dwell in the house of the Lord forever the bible suggest that it take an attitude of heart that expresses a constant praise and worship life.
The secret a attitute of Praise and Worship.
Weve been talking about the supremacy of God. Not because we need to know he is above all the angels, not because we need to know he is at the right hand of God and holds all the power and authrotiy. its so we can understnd he is rightfully there because he wants us to be with him. He is almighty powerful and amazing.
But to him its nothing without you. To Him to God he doesnt gloat about his throne, Jesus doesnt have a character of Pride of where he now is. Because he is waiting for you.
So much so that he is now King and has a kingdom but still to this day he comes and visits you and me in Church on sunday. He still moves and operates here for miraclous things to happen.
When your family hears the gospel its because God is moving things around.
When youre body gets sick, its because God has a plan in the end.
Its in our times of suffering, its our times of hurt our times of famine starvation, desperation that God says here i am. I see you.
You are hurting you are desperate you are needy. But your still worshipping me.
You are happy you are caring, you are sacraficing for the benefit not of your household but for the Kingdom. God sees that and he says thank you for still worshipping me.
When we as christians understand not only the soverignty Jesus today and where he Is.
But we understand the Holiness and santity of this tabnernacle we call church this morning.
This is a holy of holy places we walk into. Its not that this place has been transformed and its a new place because the chairs are set up different its because we come in and set ourselfs apart. we set this time apart and we cry out in love honor and admiration for our God to just receive our praise at whatever quality because our hearts are here for Him Amen
But theres a question to be asked with all of this being said.
Has my heart been set upon the santified tabernacle he has asked us to join in.
Has my heart been ALL In for church?
Has my heart been pricked and I havent given God what i needed to?
If thats you this morning i want to say something to you
God offers His grace. He looks and says Child come home to this dwelling place of Mercy, come back home.
And we do that not by a sinners prayer of repentance,
we do that by a heart to heart with our savior.
We do that with our hands folded knees bowed and mind cleared.
So i want to give this opportunity so we dont allow this moment to get passed by.
Worship team if we can have something today.
done.
