1. Matthew 14:22-33
22 Immediately he made the disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, while he dismissed
the crowds. 23 And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. When
evening came, he was there alone, 24 but the boat by this time was a long way from the land, beaten by the
waves, for the wind was against them. 25 And in the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the
sea. 26 But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!” and they
cried out in fear. 27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.” 28 And
Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” 29 He said, “Come.” So Peter
got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid,
and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” 31 Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of
him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32 And when they got into the boat, the wind
ceased. 33 And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”
2. Find your mountain to pray on.
Matthew 14:22-25
22 Immediately he made the disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, while he dismissed
the crowds. 23 And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. When
evening came, he was there alone, 24 but the boat by this time was a long way from the land, beaten by the
waves, for the wind was against them. 25 And in the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the
sea.
John 6:15
15 Perceiving then that they were about to come and take him by force to make him king, Jesus withdrew again
to the mountain by himself.
3. Take heart and live courageously.
Matthew 14: 25-27
25 And in the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. 26 But when the disciples saw him
walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!” and they cried out in fear. 27 But immediately
Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.”

2 Samuel 23:8-12
8 These are the names of the mighty men whom David had: Josheb-basshebeth a Tahchemonite; he was chief of
the three. He wielded his spear against eight hundred whom he killed at one time. 9 And next to him among the
three mighty men was Eleazar the son of Dodo, son of Ahohi. He was with David when they defied the Philistines
who were gathered there for battle, and the men of Israel withdrew. 10 He rose and struck down the Philistines
until his hand was weary, and his hand clung to the sword. And the Lord brought about a great victory that day,
and the men returned after him only to strip the slain. 11 And next to him was Shammah, the son of Agee the
Hararite. The Philistines gathered together at Lehi, where there was a plot of ground full of lentils, and the men
fled from the Philistines. 12 But he took his stand in the midst of the plot and defended it and struck down the
Philistines, and the Lord worked a great victory.
4. When Jesus says “Come,” do it.
Matthew 14:28-29
28 And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” 29 He said, “Come.”
So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus.
5. Why did you doubt?
Matthew 14:30-33
30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” 31 Jesus
immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you
doubt?” 32 And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. 33 And those in the boat worshiped him, saying,
